I went to a junk store on Hwy 20 today and found this Kamp Kook #7 stove! I put an O ring on the pump anf fuel in the tank. It lit but just flared up with a big yellow flame. Now I have to get it working properly then do a restoration.

Very nice find Lee....welcome to the cast iron grate club....It's a subset of the Coleman Keepers....Look under the grate edge on the back...there are 2 L shaped rods that you can punch out and it will remove the grate and the top lid. Have fun with that one...very similar to my model 4, except the legs are different on it and mine has an external pump. Doug

Thanks for the info Doug. One of the tabs on the lid is bent and that will make it easy to fix. Do you have any tricks for taking the burners apart? The screws look very rusted in.

Keith, I paid 45.00 for it. I had seen it several months ago and went back taking the chace it would be there after talking with Doug on new years eve.

Lee....I just use the PB blaster on the screws... I've always gotten the top ones out on the burners, If it's the ones on the bottom holding the manifold to the box...I have at times, ground them...then drilled and tapped the existing screw out in the manifold if it didn't want to come out. Doug

Nice find Lee. I will watch for your restoration. My work so far has been on lanterns. Stoves are next.

I picked up a similar stove this summer that is a Model No. 3. It does not have a cast iron grate. So no club for me

Do you know how these work? I would think the numbering system would follow the age but yours is a 7. Mine seems much smaller then yours also.

Great stove Woodbutcher! I haven't done a stove yet either. I think they are a bit more difficult that lanterns. Just because of the body and paint work. But; Doug has been encouraging me. So, I will give it a shot.

Your stove is earlier than mine. Probably made in the thirties. Here is a link to some information.

Hey Lee thanks for the info. When I get a little better I will tackle this stove. Maybe I'll do a basic Coleman first and get my feet wet.
