Best Place for Mattress Foam?

Just wondering if most people get their foam online or a craft store? Any good websites I might be overlooking? Thanks for the info!

I think I have the 4 inch that I put on top of the too thin Little Guy mattress.
It is Just Right. I do not feel the pea.

I went to one of those mattress stores that build their own in the back of the store. They will build you one to fit and sew a cover for it . This is especially good if your mattress size is not standard.

Check out JC Penny website. We got a 5" piece of foam, double bed size, for about $75 but that may have been a sale price. That was the best price I could find anywhere. We already had a 2" foam topper, so we use that too. This is in our Uhaul camper.

No matter where I have lived I have always been able to find a local source that specializes in foam. Check the yellow pages or google for your area. I'll bet something pops up. I have used places in several towns I've lived and usually you can walk in tell them what firmness you want, how thick and exactly what size and they'll cut it on the spot. They'll cut it in half if you want to make it easier to get in and out the door or whatever.

Dittos to what Becky posted.

During my comparison shopping, I was able to find the best deal from a local foam distributor. A much larger variety of thicknesses and densities and a huge cost savings as compared with what I found at the chain fabric stores. Online suppliers had the variety, but with shipping added they couldn't match the price.

If i remember right they are also Foam by Mail.

My foam is in 3 pieces cause of the under bed storage/foot well. I then wrapped the pieces with old sheets. Works for me.

That is what I used, 5 inch thick. It is plenty firm, I can set on it and i will not compress it to the wood and I weigh almost 300 lbs. A less firm foam would probably work for other people. 5 inches was to thick, could have gone with 3 or 4. Maybe even 2 with 2 inches of a much softer foam over that. Not memory foam in my book. I have tried that in both the TD and home and removed it. Just did not work for me.

yeah,,,sometimes my wife doesn't feel the pea too,,,we have rubber sheets though.

Thanks for all the info! Love this site. Looking to start my build in March so I'm trying to get a materials list going. I've got a thousand more questions that I'll be asking in the next couple months so bear with me.
