anyone with just one door? If so how wide is your trailer?

I sure like to hear how people like one door.
I think Im going to do two but wow ya sure can do more with the inside of a one door rig. Also less chance for leaks ex..

I'd say plan your non-door wall side so you could easily take a saw to it and make another door after your first few camping trips.

My 4-ft wide trailer has only one door. It was made that way, 64 years ago.

My TTT has only one door!

It is on the pssenger side.

The trailer width is 78-1/2".

I have no propane tank or stove installed.

I am not concerned about fire.

My first tear was 5' x 9' and had 1 door.

My second is 7' wide and has 1 door.

Many small travel trailers have only one door.
If fire or emergency exit is a concern, RV windows are available that serve as window, and escape hatch.

#2 is 40" wide and has only 1 door, can't really say how it is camping as I haven't camped in it yet. As far as emergency exit, if it came down to it, I would smash the big window on the non door side and exit that way, I know I can fit through the window as I had to climb in the opening once during construction, or there is the galley pass through, I have been waist deep through the pass through.

Our first tear had one door and that is one of the main reasons we now have a tear with two. Both were made by the same company and the interior is the same 6' wide. It is a pain crawling over your mate in the niddle of the night.
Another concern that is not often addressed is that some camp sites have very limited access on one side or the other, then you get to crawl over your mate, but at least you can

4x8 with one door and a 14x21 window on the other side for ventilation and light. In case of fire USE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!

I camp alone so the crawling over your mate thing is of no concern to me. With 2 people I would go with 2 doors.

I only have one door, also. It was built that by someone else an unknown number of years ago. Four feet wide, but it's a one person set up. I don't have any electricity so less risk of fire, I suppose. But my hatchet is usually in a bin at the foot of my bed, so I guess I could hack my way out if need be.

My camper is four foot wide and only has one door and if I had to do over, it would have two. But then again I would've made it wider too.

Folks, fires don't necessarily start in your trailer...

If you've never been in a campground where the folks next door lose control of their campfire, you've never lived!

Sleeping in a box is challenge enough. I'd never consider sleeping in a box with only one way out. If you've got that covered, great.

Some very good points have been made both for and against a one door rig.

The fire thing seems to be the biggest negative to one door. I think its my least concern. Because Ive been camping for 40 years off and on and never have I been in a fire. My trailer will not have electricity and so I feel its a small risk. The window on the non door side would be bigger so I guess I could escape from that window.
I ride motorcycles and don't live in fear of being run over and killed. I do take precautions and that's all one can do.

Jumping over my wife at night to (you know what) is not a problem. I think we will use the tear often but were not going to live in it full time so its a very small inconvenience at best.

The biggest negative for me is this. With two doors you can pull up to any campsite and your good. A door on both sides would been nice for the loading of camping gear before and after. I have a small garage and who knows what side the tear will in on when Im loading up to go. Also making the bed will be easier , although a small thing its a nice thing.

Making the bed sound so miniscule but having my 5x10 with dual doors and now the 4x7 with its single door making the bed without my helper is a real pain.

I have no fear of being trapped in a blazing inferno of a tiny trailer, with enough motivation that little plywood box would explode with the force of a big fat guy in blind panic making his exit

I have had past experience with the passenge side unlatched door on Chubby merrilly swing in the breeze at 70 MPH while running down the interstate. Luckily none of the camping goodies escaped into the roadway. For that very reason I placed the only door on the 4x7 on the drivers side somewhat contrary to the general concensus of the forum. I felt it would be easier to keep an eye on in the driverside mirror.

As to placement of the door , when I get to the campsite I can simply spin the trailer to place the door wherever I want it.

I am sure if we both go camping she is going to insist on taking Chubby because of the 2 doors.

As I was building the 4x7 she complained about the one door design. I explained there would be no climbing as I would be last in and first out as always and if a sudden middle of the night desire struck her I would be a gentleman and get out to allow her egress without obstacles.

I ,for one ,do not think there is any one answer to any aspect of tiny trailer design. Different strokes for different folks.... I have multiple trailers and each are different and are used at different times of the year and weather conditions for different reasons.
