Hit The Jackpot Today!

Postby Lazybones » Sun Jan 08, 2012 12:41 am

I was killing time while waiting to meet friends for diner and stopped into an old sporting good store. While walking along the back wall I found a whole box full of NOS coleman parts. I picked through picking out things like check valves,FA tubes, and ice chest hinges. All in the coleman packaging. I kept looking and found some made in USA globes and some 200A-242 globes made in Germany for coleman. I go up to the counter and ask if they have any other old coleman stuff? Lanterns, stoves,or parts? He said yes in the attic we use to repair lanterns. Can I take a look? I ask. Sure Ill take you up. the first thing I see is three military lantern boxes. I open them and find on box empty but the other two each have two lanterns in them with a couple of generators. They are 1979 models. 1 coleman and 3 S.M.P. Newer than I would normally buy but the price was right. So; I bought them and a bunch of parts.
They told me to come back as they are cleaning out the attic and have more burried!! They are huge burners. The large tube is the generator.
Here is a couple of pictures.

I also foung these two old military stoves. I didn't buy them but may go back for them.

Very cool find! Congrats! :applause: :applause:

From what I understand those Mil-Specs really roar, so you should get some great sound with all four going. And to get the wooden shipping boxes....looks like one of the orange plastic envelope for shipping documents is still there, any papers? Any unit ID markings on the boxes?

Be sure to let us know what other treasures you find there.

You crack me up Lee! "there's nothing around up here, I can't find any lanterns" Remember when we were talking on the phone and I said..."you'll find all sorts of stuff, you always do"...guess what, I was right! Great bunch of stuff you stumbled on to. What's the deal on the globe wrap? Doug

Loader,
The packing pocket just had a discription of " two lanterns" on a card inside of it.

I've never had a military lantern lit before. so; wil learn how loud they are.
I probably won't get all of these going. I'm thinking about offering them up for interesting trades.

I have a globe wrap on one of mine..one that I can't currently locate!

Those would be great trading fodder. Someone who specifically collects milspec would love to have those with the box!

I think I 'need' to check into when these Coleman meets are. At least to get an education on what's out there, since there is no book (or at least one that isn't super rare!) and I really don't know what all there is to find in the wild.

There has to be more than just 220 and 200a lanterns still left. Somebody must have some of the newer brown equipment still, too.

I'm thinking of testing out the newer 22of today..if I can get rid of my migraine. Burning white gas sure is not going to help with that!

Agree, they are sure to make great trading material, wish I had something to offer up!

I am hoping to get a couple, with at least one being an 1982 model, since that is the year I joined the Air Force.

Also agree, I need to get to one of the regional Coleman gatherings to learn more about this new hobby.

Hey Kirk...it's not just in the Coleman world. I'm dang lucky at scooter raffles, but his mojo out mojos my mojo. And I've got some mojo!

But I'm thinking your mojo might match my mojo...

whatever..somehow we are going to score big like Lee some day!!! I'll have a whole gold bond setup!!!

Ok, maybe not. Maybe I'll be lucky and get my 3 common lanterns working and sell my Aristocrat trailer to a good home AND get a good tow vehicle!! I would settle for that!!
