Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Van Morrison

Not sure if anyone is planning on seeing Van Morrision in Tenn or Boston this week, or in the UK or Germany in the coming weeks but thought I'd let you know. My wife and I went last night (Grand Prairie, TX), all I can say is WHAT A SHOW! :applause:

They way he tours the US, I bet this was a once in a life time event for us. This was his first trip to the DFW area in 25 years!

He played some songs from his new album (out today) it is country music, in fact he covers many old songs (40s - early 70s). But, it isn't just country music, it has the Van Morrison twist to them.

Last time I saw Van Morrison was about 15 years ago or better at Great Woods, central MA. Mose Allison did the lead in, he was the reason we went. Van Morrison, well, it all sounded the same no matter what he sang. And I like Van Morrison...always have.

He also used to play fairly often at a place called Tammany Hall on Pleasant Street in Worcester MA. A long time ago. Late '60's? Early '70's? It's all a blur. I'm still friends with the guy who owned the joint back then......he's got some good stories. Still in touch with a couple of the then bartenders, waitstaff. J Geils also played there quite often, well before they went on to national fame. Lots of others, too.

It's all a blur.......

Saw Al Kooper (with The Funky Faculty) this past Sunday in Providence at The Hi Hat. Good show.
