Spice Rack

I had been mulling over where to put a spice rack in the kitchen area after seeing a picture of a nice galley spice rack. Trouble is, there really isn't a good spot in our kitchen area.



The stove cover blocks access to the shelf behind the stove as well as the side of the cabinet. The pop top doesn't leave any room on top of the cabinets when it folds down. Somewhere I saw a picture of a spice rack on the inside of a door and it works perfectly for us. Very handy when you're standing at the stove:



All the wood was left over from the trailer build so it was pretty cheap to make. I got the apothecary bottles from eBay for around $1 apiece. The blue dots on the top are stickers showing what spice is in the bottle.



It sure is a nice solution if you don't have any counter space.

Garlic Powder
Salt
Rosemary
Cumin
Season Salt
Steak Seasoning

I just today approached one of crabbing buddies about doing a sauce making demo at this year's event. He liked the idea and he makes some awesome sauces... His Peach Habanero Ghost Pepper Sauce is my favorite!!!

It's really odd that this thread would pop up right now...today I decided to look for my spice rack containers. I am collecting spice tins...Crown Colony (Safeway) in woodgrain from the 70's and early 80's. I started this 6 years ago when I got the big trailer, and decided last night to really search for spice tins I will use and display in my galley.

But they have to be woodgrain.

Found some at an antique store...made me wonder what spices most take with them....

Bought some on ebay...chili powder and poultry seasoning.

I'm looking for garlic powder. Maybe cayenne or something for a chipotle seasoning I have...

Cinnamon and nutmeg might be good ones...

Just thought it was really odd that I spent a bit of energy on this today and now you are all talking about it. I was wondering if I was being to anal with collecting a very specific spice tin for use and display....

then I decided I don't care...I'm doing what *I* want. Call me crazy, but it will look good in a funky 70's kind of way!

Keep the ideas coming..this is a great thread!!
