And so the journey begins. After years of deliberating and months of looking for a trailer I finally made a purchase towards a teardrop camper.

Its a 2010

Sits kind of high doesn't it?

Lots of things to do.

I have a list of things I have to do before laying down my floor.
1) Remove all wood from bed and sides.
2) Remove all mountings for the lights, fenders and for the wood bed stakes
3) Remove the blocks from the leaf springs.
If anyone else has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Not sure how low you want it but I've read here that lot's of folks put their axle on top of the leaf springs.
Looks to be a great start, have fun!

That's the way my little Apache tent trailer frame was built.



You can see the single u bolt on each side in the pic.

Hey Dave: You might save yourself a great deal of work by doing as I did on the barn build and simply coat the hell out of the existing wood floor ( top and bottom ) with fence post treatment. I then put down a layer of blue foam for insulation and a layer of 7/16 osb for my sub floor.
There are pics in my album and the tiny barn thread is in the tiny house section for pics with explainations. Also if you leave the post loops you can cantilever your walls out onto them and gain a couple inches in width. It don't sound like much but on even an 8' trailer it totals not quite 3 more square feet inside.

By the way looks like a nice old trailer. It will make a great solid foundation for your build.

It looks like the trailer has been highly modified. Look to the left of the leaf springs and you can see the mounts where the leaf springs used to be.
