Plan-A for getting the TT into the garage meant pushing it in. Simple enough and it worked okay, but it was quite an effort to get it up the slant of the driveway working alone. Once it was in the garage it rolled effortlessly.

Time for Plan-B. Winch it in. I got the winch at WalMart for about 70-bucks. It has a removable bracket that can be hooked over a hitch ball. The bracket is also predrilled for mounting on a solid surface.

I installed the mounting plate to the floor of the TT. I don't carry the winch with me. It stays in the garage and gets hooked on the the trailer when I want to move the TT inside. I power the winch from the 12-volt batteries on the TT.

The winch comes with 29-feet of cable which is not enough to get all the way into the garage. I added 10 feet of light chain, attached to a simple loop anchor plate that is Tap-Conned to the floor.

Getting the TT out of the garage is easier too. I roll the TT out the door to the edge of the driveway. then I "lower" it down the driveway and remove the wheel disks and install the tires.

Not wanting to put out the money for the regular roll out awning, does anyone have any photos of how they did it differently. I only have a few inches from the top of the door to the roof molding.

I use a free standing E-Z up dining canopy. works great for us.
It's 10x10 and pretty light.

Do you have an awning rail above the door? I ordered mine with a rail on both the driver and passenger side.

I have one but have yet to obtain a awning specifically for it.
I have put a tarp in it folded over TV antennae cable. worked for me.

I never thought to order an awning rail with my trailer. Goof-up. Your having one on both sides was a great idea.

All of the "rough carpentry" is done. Finally. Next step is adding the face-frame cabinetry, drawers in the kitchen and cabinet doors.

Under the desk I added a shelf and it will have doors on it. I widened the toilet compartment a bit and made a rolling base for the Porta-Potti.




I build a half-wall across the back doors with a shelf along the back for an alarm clock, a place to park my eye glasses at night and somewhere to put that bottle of Rolaids.


I reconfigured the storage area under the bed. Making a walled off space for the spare tire, jack and blocks, and the two doggie fences. The rest of the under bed storage area is accessible from both the interior and the back doors.


January 9th I am having my right hip joint replaced so this is as far as I am going until probably March 2012.

Please tell me why the portable air did not work? I was planning to use a portable air unit that I allready have, the trailer is a 7/14.

I am going to give you the short reason. Then you should search the forum for more info on the portable a/c's. There is a lot of good info out there.

In the making of the cold air a lot of waste heat hot air has to be removed.

With a single hose a/c the cold air is used to cool the trailer and to cool the a/c equipment. The cold air is blown into the trailer. It is then sucked back in to the a/c to cool the a/c equipment and exhausted to the outside.

With a double hose unit the air to cool the a/c equipment is sucked in from the outside and returned to the outside. The cold air is blown into the trailer and is re-cooled and blown back into the trailer. The cold air being made never gets diluted by the hot air coming off of the a/c equipment.

Hello again, I was not clear on your reply, so please bare with me. My air conditioner is a 10,000 btu with one vent hose, that would be vented out side the trailer through the floor, will this set up work??

Yes, it will work to some degree, but it won't cool nearly as well as a 10,000 BTU air conditioner in a window. Some have compared single-hose portable air conditioners in terms of trying to cool a room with the windows wide open. They aren't efficient, because they are using inside air to cool the "outside" condenser. If you can find a dual-hose portable unit, you will be much better off.....

I want to do something similar in a 5x10.

I have been looking at The Trailer Showroom also.

My question, has anyone else found any better place to order a trailer or have had any problems with this outfit, they seem pretty good so far.

Looking for advise, hope to order shortly for a spring delivery.

What set TheTrailerShowroom apart from others was the ability, thru their web site, to be able to price out all of the extras and changes I wanted to do.

I didn't find any other company that was even close to that. I was able to get exactly what I wanted in my trailer.

I see they offer to insulate the trailer, I was wondering if you had them insulate yours?
