Hi Everyone- Thinking of restoring a small trailer

Postby wmshay6 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 9:16 am

Hi everyone- neat site here. I was referred to it by a member of the Coleman Forum that I frequent.

Anyway, I'm not really a teardropper. But I do have a line on a small TT (12') box that I want to restore- I think.

The trailer is from the early 70's and is a Wildcat. Of course the only info I can find on the Wildcat name now is the modern version of huge 5th wheels.

So any info on OLD Wildcat trailers would be appreciated. I figure the expertise here will prove invaluable if I undertake this project seeing as how the trailer is pretty small.

The trailer is pretty cool- the wheels are hidden up underneath and not exposed like on newer trailers. This one also has an aluminum skin under the floor. I am hoping this has prevented the rot that seems to affect the floors of modern TTs. The axle and frame seem solid- not sure how much else will need rebuilding. The trailer is free if I want it, so I figure I don't have much to lose!

I'll be reading a lot in the coming months. And likely back for A LOT of questions.

Here is something similar to what I am looking at :

Again- the name is Wildcat from the early 70's. Everything I see online related to Wildcat are the new High $$ 5th wheels. Can't find any info on the thing.
