I've been reading posts on here and other boards for a few weeks now. Gathering designs and trying to wrap my head around how to start a TD build.

I'm lucky I have a father that enjoys building utility trailers, only problem is we live 90 minutes apart.

Hope to start within the next few months. Would love to be camping by mid-summer. We'll see how that goes.

Mikey

Welcome to our insanity ! The Hoosier group is real active and you have a dozen great builders in the immediate Indy area. Too bad you didn't post last week you could have made a day trip to Turkey Run for our winter Shivaree and seen several different styles of trailers. If there is anything we can help with just post or drop me a PM. We need more Hoosier campers in our group.

Welcome Mikey!! (Also my grandson's name....so one of my favorites!!)

You have come to the right place for information and encouragement. Building a teardrop is challenging, rewarding and a lot of fun. These little trailers quickly become obsessions.

For some people, getting their ideal frame is the first big obstacle (it was for me). If you have someone to help you over that hurdle you're very lucky. (Heck, 90 minutes isn't that much!! And it gives you a great reason to see your dad.) Custom frames have a lot to recommend them, although many many people are perfectly happy with their Harbor Freight frame and have built several trailers on them.

We'll be looking forward to your build!!

Welcome Mikey! It is always great to have other Hoosiers here, and being from Indy is just better!

There is a tremendous amount of knowledge here so don't hesitate to take advantage of it. Looking forward to see the start of your build.

Welcome, Mikey!!! There is so much information here that your head will be reeling!!! As the others said, there are plenty of members in Indiana who can help.

Ask, and you'll get answers.

I got the go ahead from the SO for the build. Dad is visiting this weekend so hopefully we can chat about it. He said he may have some leftover steel for cross members.

Also have the opportunity to purchase a bigger than I need utility trailer for cheap. I'm thinking resale for a profit and starting a TD fund. LOL
