Does anyone know how wide the 5x8 Northern Tool bolt together trailer is between the tires? Thanks

With most all of the utility trailers the bed size is exactly as described.

The Northern Tool 5x8 is 60" wide and 96" long on the bed.

A Harbor Freight 40 x 48 is exactly 40" x 48" on the bed.

etc. etc.

I am building on this 5X8 Northern Tool Trailer right now. It measures 60X96 inside the decks angle iron. If you plan on using larger tires beware. I ran into trouble and will have to use spacers or lengthen the axle to avoid tire rub.

Hey Steve :

Just an F.Y.I. I built the barn on a rather abused Namco utility and there is not a nickles difference between your frame and mine. When I got it despite the doubled 2nd cross members the force of the 4' tongue lifting pulled the crossmember down almost 3". There is a lot of machanical gain with that 4 to 1 fulcrum. You might seriously concider extending the tongue member farther under the trailer. I ran the barns to the rear and used the end as a class 2 reciever. I was uncomfortable with the teardrops axle clearance so I ended his at the crossmember just before the axle.
I know your tow vehicle is often times the jeep so you might be tempted with a few cow trails so if it were me I would concider some changes to the tongue configeration.

Bob, I looked at that. But before this became the donor for my teardrop it hauled a good size John Deer lawn Tractor around. My finished tear will weigh less then half the JD. But I am already well into the build so there is no going back. I would have thought that the box of your Barn would have been strong enough that the frame could not bend.

Sorry... I meant to say how wide from tire bulge to tire bulge, not the width of the frame itself.
