Oh yeah, that's much better I agree. A clean sound at those amp settings.

As far as amp knob adjustments, it all depends on the sound you're seeking.

Want something with more distortion? Turn up the gain. Will most likely have to back off on the volume in order to compensate for the increased volume output. And, feedback may become an issue when you crank on the gain knob. If so, adjust the position of the amp and/or guitar until the feedback is eliminated.

If your amp has a reverb knob, a touch of that will provide a bit more depth or fullness.

Great work on the videos! :applause:

Morning Gary,

Thanks for the comments.

The amp is really quite basic, so pretty much has Bass, Treble and the Volume button on the various outputs.... which include "Keyboard" Microphone and Guitar.

I have probably spent a total of 90 minutes just plucking at mostly the CBG and last night Nicola commented that it was starting to sound better...... not that I am playing a tune or anything like that, but maybe my touch is lightening up a bit.

I suspect the more I handle and play with the CBG the better the chances are that I will eventually figure out how to make both my hands work together with plectrum or fingers at one end and glass slide at the other and then make it sound like "The Blues" or at least bluesy, which I would love to be able to do.

That said, I know that sometimes a single note, or two notes linked by a slide can sound perfect as a "Blues" type sound.

Next up will be singing.... errrm, maybe not.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

YOU ARE NOT HELPING..... !!!

Just been on Ebay, looking at finger picks etc.

Have a second connecting lead, so both DB and CBG can play and be plugged in at thesame time.

What would a wah wah cost, and could it make a difference to what I am doing ? That said, without adding more amps etc.

Morning Rian,

The blues, huh? Great taste in music. I'm a bluezhound myself. 8)

Yes, it's challenging at first. Developing the coordination, having one hand do one motion while the other hand is doing another. That will improve with time, as you've noticed, until it becomes second nature. Just takes time and practice.

Some simple and repetitive exercises might help. Split them up between hands initially, then combine them. Plucking exercises might include variations of volume ("string attack") and speed. Slide exercises might include the "upslide" and "downslide", starting and stopping at frets that sound good to the ear, timing the picking appropriately. Experiment with plucking the string with the slide off and then touching the string with it... at various frets. Then, pluck with the slide on and slide up a coupla frets. Reverse that. Your ear will tell you what sounds good as you're developing these "mini-riffs" and fills.

Later, you may want to spend time studying music theory and playing techniques such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, double-stops, etc. Those are all used frequently in blues. There are more "how to play" videos on YouTube than you could watch in a lifetime. Studying what Bemuzic does is time well spent, I think.

Remember, it's all about having fun and if you find yourself becoming frustrated, put it down and come back to it later.

Incontinence is a bugger ehhh?

Are you up early, or up late?

Not sure what the time is in OK, but it is now 08.55 on Saturday morning.

Been in the garage and shed already.

Found a Jack Daniels gift tin, the size of a large cookie tin, probably 300x200mm and about 100mm deep.

Could this form the basis of a BANJO ?

I have a load of pics, some art Nicola made and a bunch of wooden masks to put up today..... only been putting it off about 3 months now, and last week I left a postit note on a suit for nicola to resew a button onto, clever girl, she took it, edited it and stuck it on one of the framed pieces she had made with a request to hang it up.

Also discovered this instrument which I like (as I have about 4 Djembe drums and used to play a bit)

Now going to look out for a discarded large speaker box and see if I can make a Cajon drum.,

I am sure you know these.

Oh, and Manny at the music shop now wants me to make him a "solid electric guitar" Poor deluded boy.... not sure what he thinks I am capable of, but think he may be sorely disappointed.

Still, will look at it.

Insomnia not incontinence.. I'm not THAT old!

I was wired following a basketball game that ended late, then needed to do some website work when the server came back up. It was going on 3 am when I responded.

Sure, various types of tins are commonly used for banjo making. I've seen many examples of cookie tins being used by the Aussies and Brits, a Jack Daniel's tin sounds awesome! Or... a bedpan. Or, a license plate attached to the top of a wooden box makes a good resonator-style guitar.

Nicola and the postit note: Too funny!
(You can tell her it's all my fault for igniting this musical instrument building fire...) 8)

Pictures are up, so PostIt worked.

I did not realise you worked on websites as well, clever guy it seems

I am going to look at various options for banjo making.

Nicola wants me to make one for a Kansas based band we follow and go see when they travel to Europe and the UK.

Check out: Truckstop Honeymoon.

Here are some songs, one of our favourites : "Magnolia Tree"

And I will be watching you.

Perfect day for my wife to have her birthday.

Snow outside, walked up to the farm, saw a bunch of farmers on Quads with a load of their hunting dogs, loads of guns and the echo of gunshots from time to time.

Cleared the snow from the garden path, off the cars and cleared the driveway.

So what next ?

Uploaded another attempt at the DB with my tone deaf musicality.....

Clearly not as good as most, or a Seasick Steve, but at least the cats stayed close this time.
