Silver Shadow (Austin Craigslist) 1/25/2012

Postby JuneBug » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:26 am

Just saw this on Craigslist (suspiciously cheap, but could be legit; however, scammers are rampant on Craigslist):
Used '10 5x8 Silver Shadow - $3000 (Austin, TX )
(it is either 10' or 8', not both)
Posted on January 25th, 2012:
Fender to Fender Width: 80"
Inside Height: 37"
Exterior Height: 66"
Floor Length: 76"
Overall Cab Length: 96"
Receiver Size: 2
Rubber Torsion Axle: 2200 lb.
Mattress Size: Near Queen Split (58" x 76")
Tire Size: 205/75/R14
Roof Vent: 14"
Location: Austin, TX

The pictures posted with it are definitely of a Little Guy Silver Shadow, but the interior photo looks like it is from a commercial Web site.

I think the ad means 2010, 5'x8'

Not sure what retail on a 2010 Silver Shadow is. But I agree that the interior shot looks suspicious. Its 2 years old and still has the tag hanging on the Fantastic Fan.

Might be interesting for someone to look into if they're really interested.

Looks like the Austin area at this time of year. looks like a basic SS and price not bad for the year, but agree the tag on the fan suspicious unless photos are when it was still new.

Out of curiosity, I emailed the link on the ad asking where I could see it, but so far no response.
Ah, yes, 2010 5x8 does make more sense!

Silver Shadows are very, very pricey-- close to $8,000 to $9,000 new; even the regular used Little Guy teardrops (the 4, 5, and 6 wides) don't go for that cheap.
Some local Little Guy and Silver Shadow prices (Burnet, TX dealer) are here.

Still no response to my email asking where to see the trailer, so likely a SCAM.

I sent a reply saying I had cash and was ready to come and get it! No reply for me either! Ronnie

A 5X8 the least popular of the SS models. A 5X10 bought at the factory had a base price around 8K in 2011. a 5x8 most likely around 7K

You'd think they would take atleast one picture of the kitchen, one of the inside and one of the outside vs. 3 of the outside and 1 of the inside and not one in the kitchen! And mine is the same age and is as close to mint as possible, and not even I have the tag on the fan still hanging (although I do still have it in an envelope) ;)
