Tail lights--really cool

One sees a lot of '48 Chevy and '38-'39 Ford repop tail lights on tears and other wee trailers. Have you ever seen the Lincoln Zephyr lights? These are stainless, LED, and resemble the Ford lights, but are bigger and brighter they are something like 7 1/2" tall ! You need visibility? Don't want to get rear ended? These could make the difference. Speedway Motors.

Shiney Hiney has them too. They also have the round Willys tail lights. If you look at them you can see they are meant to be mounted on an inclined surface (back of the fender?). I'm thinking third brake light on a tear centered somewhere above your license plate. Even more "conspicuisity" when you apply the binders.

These Lincoln (and their Ford) lights have what they call "rapid fire," where the brake light flashes rapidly twice when you first apply the brakes, and then stay on steadily. You may have seen similar on motorcycles. Another good feature. PLUS, I think the Lincoln lights use the same mounting hole spacing, making for an easy upgrade.

Those Zephyr LED lights are beautiful and would look nice with the point up.
I have toyed with the idea several times but always choose 1950 Pontiac LED Tail Lights for the nice look, smaller size and they are somewhat less money.
Whatever ones you choose you can't go wrong with LED.:D Danny

I've got four of the Shiny-Hiney 38-39 Ford lights with the single crossbar.

At the time that I bought them, they didn't have the Lincoln or I may have gone with them (although the larger size may not have fit the curvature of my hatch.)

I have my tail lights wired so that I can select either the initial flash on braking - actually it flashes about 4-6 times before constant illumination - but it also multi-flashes during turn signal activation. When you are braking with turn signal activated, both sides are flashing (temporarily) making it difficult for the vehicle behind you to distinguish what you are trying to do, so I switched back to constant rather than rapid fire.

Take care,
Tom

Tom, can you switch them individually? I have installed a second stock taillight on each side (stacked) on the back of my 55.1 Chevy pickup. I have both wired for taillights, the lower one for tail/brake light and the upper for tail/turn signal.

Could solve your problem to dedicate one for turn and the other for brake, since you have two per side.
