Mine is a fairly soft 2 piece 10' graphite carp rod and Daiwa coffee grinder filled with 5# line.
How do you transport the rods when you go tearing to the fishing spot? That is one important thing I still have to figure into my design.

I have a 16ft telescopic carp rod with a browning reel on it that I travel with to many other rods to count but my other goto rod is a very old mitchell rod and reel combo medium action. patrick

I keep my very first rod and reel in the camper and a old fly rod I picked up at a yard sale years ago.
I also keep on of those tackle boxes that goes on top of a 5 gallon bucket.
They come in handy for a fresh fish meal for supper.

My best all around pole is a 6ft St Croix - Triumph , 8 lb test. Real worms. Assortment of hooks. its all you need.

Growing up I had a telescopic Shakespere with some kind of spinning reel that Dad put together. He liked the telescopic rods because they fit great in the camper without tangles or broken sections. I still use a Shakespere telescopic for the same reason. Although not as well made they are very reasonable to replace if necessary. I am mostly am a Eastern Sierra trout fisherwoman. Got a lovely 18 inch brown trout just below Rock Creek Lake a few years back.
For saltwater I have my mom's custom rod and reel. I have not been out for several years though.
Dont care if the fish are biting or not cause just being out there is what is all about.

I haven't done much fishing this last year because of work and building my camper but this year is gonna be different. I'm a bait casting / ultralight spinning / dirt fishing (metal detecting) kind of fisherman.

Ultra-light spinning rods. Not expensive, but I've had one of them for about 15 years. 6 lb test--it's a lot of fun to get a small mouth bass on one of these rods!!!! I also have a heavier one that has 10 lb test.

Luckily they all fit in the bed of the truck, on top of the shelf I have that goes across the lip of the shell. I always keep the rods ready. I keep a swivel on the end of the line so I can attach the line to the reel. It keeps them from tangling.
