Trip to California

We will be attending my sisters fiftieth anniversary June 23 in San Jose and finding a camp site for Compass Rose that is not too far has proven challenging. Sharon sent a couple of suggestions which I appreciate but I think we are going to go for Big Basin Redwoods State Park, primarily because it is Redwoods and it has been 50 years or so since I camped (further up the coast).
After that weekend we will be heading, someplace else and up to Yosemite eventually.

Big Basin is always a good choice. Be sure to make reservations, especially at weekends, because since the weather has continued to be mild, camping has continued to be popular.

Be prepared for an hour drive each way to/from San Jose.

I have not taken my trailer there yet, but have camped there almost every year since childhood. It is a beautiful park with spectacular redwood forest settings.

Be sure to get reservations early as this park is scheduled to close in July 2012, so June may be extremely popular.

Thanks for the recommendation and I will make the reservation tomorrow. I just got through talking with my sister and she said we camped there 59 years ago.
