NT 5x8...what's a good "sale" price?

Postby SteveW » Mon Feb 06, 2012 8:09 pm

Okay, so currently I'm leaning toward the NT 5x8 trailer that others here have mentioned, but I'm curious about the price. Many have said it goes on sale often, and it's currently on sale for $480 (from $530). Is this sale a real sale, or is this the standard "raise the base price and put it on sale" price? What's a good price for this model? And how often does that price come around? I'm not in a rush, but at the same time I don't want to wait until Black Friday either.

5x8 No floor welded frame

Postby dmdc411 » Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:37 pm

I just called Northern Tool this afternoon here in Minnesota, the 5x8 welded no floor is $399. I did look at the bolt together frame on-line and its $479 with free shipping. I think its been that for a while. I hope this helps.

Do you have a link? The only one I can find is the bolt-together trailer.

The welded 5x8 trailer is only available at Northern Tool Stores and it isn't listed online.

I payed $399 plus a $20 fee for the 5x8 "No Floor" about a month ago here in Minn. And then $250 to have the tongue upgrade done. If you know a good welder to do this mod, have him tie the diagonals into the front leaf spring mount with a plate. It seemed like a good idea to me. Good luck

Bummer. My closest store is a 6 hour drive.

The NT welded trailer is steel angle, even with the mesh floor was nothing I wanted to build on. The NT bolt together is a heavy duty C channel. I paid right around $625 including bearing buddies and spare tire. Bolted it together, built a plywood box on it and drove 1350 miles (Texas to Florida) with no problems.
I weighed it when I got home, it was 2300 lbs. About 300 more than stated max.
Bottom line, I would never build on the welded version that I saw at NT, too flimsy. The bolted one, I will have fun building on!
Good Luck!

I just picked mine up for $479.99 with free (disaster) shipping. Part no: 125692 Northern Industrial Heavy-Duty Trailer with 5.30-12in. Tires, 5ft. x 8ft. They are now $529.99. The only problem I have had with the trailer is arrives by Yellow freight, destroyed. I have returned two trailers now and am awaiting the third. Both arrived, by Yellow Freight, with boxes torn open and frames bent, part unable to be put back in the box were shrink wrapped to the pallet. I mean c'mon really? REALLY??? I wold gladly go with the welded frame if I could pick it up. Im tired of the wait for the trashed trailers to arrive. I hope the next one is sent by a different carrier.
