Sheet aluminum

Postby Martiangod » Tue Feb 14, 2012 6:56 pm

Been shopping and finding sheet aluminum way too expensive up here, A Cargo trailer manufacturer wanted almost $300 for a 5 x 10 in red.

Found 4' x 10' sheets of red .040 aluminum today. $86 bucks a sheet....
Gotta remember i'm in Canada so everything is expensive

At a race car shop that build Late Models...Best price I've been able to find so far. Emailed 4 dirent race shops, they all quoted pretty close.

So when looking for aluminum, call the race car builders
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Yep,
When I was ready to skin #2, I first called a metal supplier and they wouldn't even deal with 2 sheets, called a race car parts supplier, had every color as long as it was black, called a local race car fabricator and they put me on to a trailer sales place that had some colors they were trying to get rid of, think I paid around $90 each for two sheets of red. My next thought was to contact steel roofing installers.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.
