LOL at word substitution

Postby parnold » Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:14 pm

I had to laugh. Sent a PM, with a word that I wouldn't use on the board, but don't find inappropriate in a private message with this particular acquaintance. The software automatically substituted a "fluffy" word.

There's only 3 words in the banned word list. And I didn't pick the first two fluffy ones.

I can make em a little less fluffy if you like!

I think it's funny. Although the recipient might think I'm a tad bit odd.

On a hockey board for our local hockey team we had a similar situation. The team owner's name is Richard Garber and his is better known to us as Dick Garber. If you tried to type that, it was automatically changed to "Thingy" Garber. Yes this is a true story.

I have a customer in West Virginia, and in our computer at work, his business name is Dick's ______________ and the contact name is Richard _________. One day I had to call to confirm something on an order, so I asked him, which do you prefer? Richard or Dick? He replied "I like Dick". The coffee burned my nose as it came out.

This topic makes me want to use some banned words to see what the fluffy ones are....and how silly of a sentence I can make!

But I won't. Well...maybe in the Coleman Keepers Campfire thread. Everyone there already knows I'm crazy..
