Galley space

Just curious? If you have an 8' tear with a queen mattress length, do you find the galley length ok or do you need more room? Also if you have a 10' do you have enough room or is the extra room just "there".

Most 8' tears have a galley "shelf" Your feet in a sleeping position are under that shelf.

I chose rather than to give up the interior room in the sleepy side to move my "kitchen" out of doors.

I can shelter the side mounted galley with my first up in inclement weather if I wish.

With both 3' long bat wing tables mounted on the right and the left side of the 4' wide "Rip Van Winkle" it just happens to make 10' in total width, the same as the width of the pop up.

By giving up the galley shelf and cabinet intrusion into the sleeping area I was able to construct a couple more shelves inside for camping goodies, clothes, etc.

These tables actually were built for "The wishbone wagon" and can be shared by either trailer.

My first TD was 4' wide and 9' long. Found myself running out of galley space. The cooler and cast iron cookware took up most of the space, and I still had another cooler that I take along for boondocking weekends. My new TD is 5' wide and 10' long. I designed it so that I can fit two 50qt coolers in the galley lengthwise, and still have plenty of room for water containers, cast iron, etc. My thought is that you can never have enough storage. If there's room, you'll find something to put there.

Mine is 5x8 other than having to buy skinny coolers I think there is enough room. If you want a big fat cooler you will have to go 9' or go with a shorter bed.

Seeing Kirks coolers nicely tucked in their spot does bring up a good point - the more room you have, the more aware you have to be of what will be sliding and shifting around, and if necessary what things need tied down. I'm going to have a couple attachment points made from drawer pulls that I can bungie cord stuff to. Bigger isnt always better. :o

Kirkman, you have more room than I thought you could have. Thanks for the responses.

I choose my space in lieu of galley. Looking at making a patrol box soon

Mine is short, 4 wide and ony as long inside as the mattress. I figure teh less I take the less my weight and setup time the sooner I can explore.
I just need a small cooler and a couple of plastic drawers on my galley shelf and I am good to go. My side tent if I get one will ride in my Beetle as does my camp chairs,
If there were two fo us going ot I was going out more than a night r two at a time I would need more room.

Kirk I just noticed your table very well designed I would never have come up with the movable part that keeps the table upright
and I see it also serves to keep the drawers closed.
I am copying picture to my picture file for later use hope you don't mind.
