pvc pipe

Has anyone built a fence out of PVCpipe? I have a few questions to ask

PVC expands and contracts a lot with changing temperatures. Standard PVC pipe breaks down in sunlight and gets brittle. Not a good choice, IMHO, for a fence.

Cheers,

Gus

Quality PVC fencing has an overlay of UV resistant plastic. Also the joints are not solid allowing for expansion and contraction. Standard PVC pipe will become brittle and fail when left out in the sun.

ok so I guess it wouldn't be a good alternative to the metal fencing that comes with a kennel ....I was just trying to be thrifty ok back to the drawing board..

I dunno I just was thinking that it would be a good way to not draw attention to it by having the pvc and putting lattice on the outside of it, I live in a small town so we don't have that much crime but we still do and since I'm setting up my kennel I am just trying to play it safe..but I could go with the mettle version and place the lattice on the outside of that...the lattice helps prevent prying eyes and all...or I could put on an electric fence...Hey Slow you know about electric fences right...

friend of mine bought a house with the deck railings made of PVC pipe uprights with the top and bottom rail of pressure treated wood. the rail was so old that it broke and dumped the building inspector, who was leaning against it making a phone call, on the ground. the pressure treated wood had finally rotted but the PVC uprights were still fine. they had routed a "socket" into the top and bottom rail for the pipe to sit in.
