Wiring changes to move the battery to the tongue are not that difficult if you are at all handy, Two wires and a fuse from the converter forward to a battery box or tongue box. You need to find out what you have first, it may be perfectly adequate for what you need. Part of that equation needs to be conservation and LED lights are probably the first aspect.
Our teardrop is pretty electric intensive and includes a TV and stereo hooked up with a Sirius satellite receiver. you come to a good place where the owner will be lots of very good advice from people that are knowledgeable about this, and it is a learning experience as you can and have fun with your new Little Guy you'll find out what does and does not work well and what you want to add or leave home. One strong suggestion that I will make is that you come to some of the Tearjerkers gatherings and see what people have done with theirs. Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery, I have gotten many ideas from others both on this forum and at Tearjerker gatherings.

Not trying to de-rail this thread, but I'm interested in doing the LED thing...but I have vintage fixtures that I would like to keep, since this is a factory made trailer that is very rare. However, I really would like to update minor things...like switch to LEDs. It just makes sense. Can I do that and still keep the same 79 Bargman light fixtures? And how to do it?

Meanwhile...I have a Battery Tender that I will be using on my trailer. I have been using it on my scooter battery for years and it's a trickle charger...works great. As soon as the Grasshopper moves over here I will be plugging in and seeing how it holds up.

Hi all,
Well we charged the battery for four hours. The WFCO three-stage converter works well. After unplugging it my husband's multimeter read 13V. Next step will be to remove the covers to the RV lights (without cracking them), so we can replace the bulbs with LED bulbs. Little by little we're getting ready for the camping season.

Try these: LED retrofit kit
They include adapters for most RV type lamps.
