Carol and I started on this voyage of discovery when we decided to drive to Alaska since I don't like to fly anymore. Well, original plan: motels and sleep in the Pilot if none available. OK sleep in the Pilot, that led to a search for a tent to drape over the hatch of the Pilot. OK, that's available. Then SWMBO mentioned the "bear" word! Hmmm, OK so if we're in bear country (anyone know if bears post signs at the beginning of their "territory"? Not sure how you really know where they are.....), we'll just get motels. Problem solved ... then SWMBO mentioned the "bedbug" word.....One thing led to another and then we discovered the teardrop principle of "drag your mattress with you and shut your door on the bears". Perfect solution so we ordered a Camp Inn last week. We'll have it in Sept so Alaska is out this year but we'll use it in and around FL during the winter and be ready for our next adventure in the summer of 2013. This Forum will be invaluable to us as we plan this new lifestyle.
