Inverter Question

I have a Vector (VECO43b) 750 watt power inverter I got at a Black and Decker going out of business sale for $16.00 for my Teardrop. It works great on everything but Stereo/PA amps. I get a bad HUM when I connect it. I started reading and it said the VECO43b was a modified sine wave converter and modified sine wave converters would cause HUM in audio equipment and Snow on TVs. The literature said a Pure Sine Wave inverter is what is needed for these applications. I am running a maximum of 185 watts, so I think 200 watt is what I want. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a pure sine wave inverter. Do they really eliminate the HUM? Is there something else I should be looking at.

PSW inverters are still pretty expensive compared to the MSW but the prices have been coming down. One thing to keep in mind is that PSW inverters in general aren't as efficient as MSW so you take a bigger battery hit using them. FWIW, You could probably go with a 12V car stereo and get more battery life with no hum for the same price as a PSW inverter. I went with a Morningstar SureSine and one of the reasons was its high efficiency at about 90% and low self consumption. I was tempted to use another make but other folks experience and the Morningstar quality. We do however have a 12V auto type stereo and unless using the TV or other 120 appliances it will not even be plugged in.
