Hello to all from Canada...

Hello to all, what a great site you have here. I'm a gear head who likes camping in the bush in and around Alberta, Canada. I've been tenting it my whole life, I'm 30 now, and decided I don't want to anymore....

So I took to the interwebs to look at some campers, and nothing suited what I want... I like tenting it, but am tired of disposable tents, and the setup and teardown, its no fun...and worse when it snows. What i want is a tent...with wheels, and a kitchen set up.... so after searching through the google image files for countless pages i find a teardrop...and that led me here.

I'm amazed these are not more common... the options available are endless...the creativity here is inspiring, and the craftsmanship (womanship too) is astonishing, you folks should be proud :applause:

So i've joined... now what... well I'm a fairly mechanical person, Journeyman Sheet metal mechanic, hvac technician as trades, and car builder, snowmobile builder as hobbies...among many others... I like building stuff...but need ideas...i've viewed this site for the last weekend or so, and the gears in my head have been spinnin.

I've decided to build something similar to a grasshopper, a 5x9 floor plan... I'm still working out details, so I'll be lurkin around... but for now.... I'm gonna go do more learnin...

Hello from B.C.
Are you a Street Rodder?
We have been tenting for 40+ years, but have decided to join the teardrop group.
I am building a not quite so conventional teardrop from a 1959 Sima Vedette and a 1951 Studebaker.
Check out my Album.
I am out in the shop working on it tonight.
Hopr to have it ready for the first Rod Run of the season in May.

Hello Vedette... I'm not a street rodder in terms of the years of cars. I love the old cars...but I'm more into imports, or "tuners" lol, although i despise the image that comes to mind... I like unique...my car is one of a kind, my sled is one of a kind...as will be my camper :D

I will take a look at your album...I'm a car guy at heart.
I'm no where near building yet...but i usually have 3 or 4 projects on the go in different stages, this is my newest project and its in the learning, and designing stages...I think i have a design finalized... but everything is flexible...Im not overly worried about weight... still trying to figure somethings...i would like to incorporate a tip out... as it would allow a toilet inside (the girlfriends only wish), along with a dropped floor to make it useable. I'm no cabinet maker (i'm like a caveman compared to some of the stuff i've seen on here) but quick to learn, and randomly skilled lol. Hopefully i get to start welding a frame soon :)

hi guys, fellow Canuk over in B.C in the lower mainland. I love my tents but time for a TD, still formulating ideas. Looking at frames, since I don't have the equ to weld my own those complete packages from Harbour Freight are a decent price, even if I have to ship it, anyhow, my build is still a few months away. Looking forward to your TD's
