Coleman Keepers Campfire come on in!

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Greetings all. The rebel in me said, no red or green. The decorating plans called for no blue, so yup, that left turd brown. So far I've gotten a 2 gal. water jug and a 275 in almost new condition. The lantern is from Jan 79 and came with case, instructions, a new set of mantels and funnel. If it has been lit, I can't tell. There's gas smell from the tank. I guess that means it was used. Actually, it has a teeny tiny bit of liquid in the tank.

It holds pressure. It has no scratches. It has the original pryex etched globe. Maybe when it quits raining, I'll get brave and try it out. But first a question about the mantels:

The mantels are the ones that are apparently radioactive. Should I toss them?

I haven't seen a brown stove yet, did they make them? What number would I be searching for?

Other coleman stuff I own: Single burner propane stove and a Focus 5 Propane heater that I didn't need or want, but they were a matched set, so to speak.

Oh, and someday, I'll have a ttt or teardrop to haul this stuff around in. :)

First - we want pics. Second they are all radioactive that's why they work. Third I have never seen a brown stove. You are now an official brown turd like Dragonfire. Welcome.

If you want a brown stove.....paint it! No real cause for anxiety over painting up a 413 or 425 to whatever color you want, those came in green, but it's no loss if you paint one how you want. I've got some old AGM's and Pre-Ways that are colored more like something from a babies diaper, alas...that's the color they came in and I did a true resto on them.

If you want a brown one, find a worker stove (like a 413 or 425 as they are bullet proof), take it apart, clean it well, scuff it, and spray it with some rustoleum...and you're in bidness! You can get any part for them. Don't get all wound up with someone telling you they are "rare"....if it's got the capsule shaped tank....it's not. There are literally millions of them around. Doug

You guys make me laugh. I will get pictures. Oh, one other thing, Do I just pull the cap on the pump part to get to the leather that needs oiled? I have no idea how long this latern has sat around. It did hold pressure, so should I try and light it? Won't be until Sunday, I have family things happening tomorrow.

They kinda remind me of the color of Dark chocolate. :)

I like bonnies idea. Lets call them chocolate lanterns, not turds.

Yes pull the clip from one side and pull the plunger out, you will see the leather. Oil it and fluff the leather a bit.

The older mantles are Thorium coated and emit Alpha Particles which can't penetrate the skin.
Don't eat them and you will be ok. Eat them and you will probably still be ok ( i don't think they are food grade).

Bonnie...you should be able to bend the leather diaphragm back like an umbrella, soak it in some oil....some prefer neetsfoot, I just use regular old motor oil on mine. If it cracks when you bend it back....it's gotta be replaced. Doug

So I'm a 'Turd', huh???

And my picnic table has been on fire before..I think it had to do with the stove though...

But I did a little shopping today and wanted to share what I got...

is it a Gold Bond something??? Another single burner stove?? A 'Coleman' propane tank? An awning for the G-hopper?

Hmmm...let's see.... 8)
