Postby bradw18 » Sun Mar 18, 2012 10:33 pm

well im to the point i have to buy a tent for my project. my platform is 10x10. iv looked at the colemen sundome 6. anybody have any other suggestions? really be nice to be able to seal the tent without a rain awning or rain cover just zip up windows and it be water proof.
iv made a fold up tent trailer/platform.

You may need to be looking for a mess tent though, with no floor and zipper to the ground

A flip over tent would be the best, but 10 by ten would likely be a custom size
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

We have both and I have to say the Pahaque is the more substantial well built and better guarantee plus they can custom build exactly what you want!

I would think for that type of design, you'd build the box around the tent?

Is this the type of design you're after?

A friend of mine now owns this one (above), but I don't see the advantage to having to store your tent in a trailer when it fits in a cabinet by itself.

This one is pretty cool, but the trailer doesn't have room for much of your galley/mess items once that tent gets in there.

I'm a big fan of canvas, just for the old-tymey factor, I've go two big canvas tents that I use regularly. A fold-up hard wall as Slow suggests sounds interesting. You would definitely need stabilizer jacks to keep it from rocking too much no matter what.

I have a build thread in the non traditional it's home made redneck build. that's very close to the design I'm going for. I had space saving in mind. I wanted to get a river camp and build a stationary platform big enough for a tent to set on top of. Then I had a spare trailer an said heck I'll just build a mobile platform. Plus it's a good way to store all my camping supplies.
