Two turds a burning!

Yesterday I posted about a load of lanterns that I bought. In that load where four Turds. This morning I spent a little time looking them over. Two of them were really clean. A third one was almost as clean. They had fuel in them when I got them and all three would spit fuel. So I took the vents and put them on the best two. Wiped them down and cleaned them up. Here they are as I got them and after the clean up.




It's nice to have these in my collection, but it's just a fact. Even clean these are still ugly.

275A's ? I could not tell a difference in any of them. Two 1978's, an 82and an 83.

Nice haul and the two burning 275s look great! 275 vs 275A, what's the difference?

The shrader? valve is different the older ones gas eats the rubber seal they changed some where around 1980.
I believe it is marked on the collar with a "A".

Good to know that info. I went and checked and of the two working models I have one of each.
And of the two nonworking models I have one of each.

Nice lanterns!!

I guess by ugly you mean that they have a larger fount than the others and the vent is more simple. They aren't the classic Coleman lantern..but an 'updated' version..a bridge between classic and the newer propane and battery era.

I like them. Probably because they are different, they are from when I was in High School, and they are still Coleman white gas lanterns. The represent a little slice of Coleman history before things went 'high tech'...plastics, battery, etc.

Just my own ideas on how I see them. I also like the look of the Gold Bonds..just because the color is different. My favorites are still the classic green Colemans, but I like them all, as they just show the 'progression'(?) of the Coleman lantern.

Nice pictures! If you want to off load the turds cuz they're too ugly, I'm sure someone (maybe me!) would buy them from you.

The "Brown" lanterns are not ugly! They are beauty challenged. They have gotten a bad rap. Everyone calling them turds! How can they win.

They are growing on me. I have lit them several times in the last few days. I like to have a lantern or two burning while I work in the shop.
They keep me company!
