Not so new

Postby Sharm » Thu Mar 22, 2012 12:23 am

Hello all! Long time lurker Lanea here, finally joining the conversation. I'm a Utahn, freelance pixel artist, crocheter, and lover of small clever things. I've been in love with teardrops since I first saw them on RV Crazy. Currently I'm living in Colorado with my brother as he transitions out of the army. As soon as we get back to Utah we want to do ambitious things like buy a house and build a teardrop. We're still debating what kind of teardrop, it varies between a large dining tear with converting beds and room for 3 all the way to the weekender. What we really need is to see one of these things in person. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys better!

Well WELCOME to you and yer brother ! You definitely need to go to a gathering.. NEED TO ! You'll git more ideas that you can write down in a single note pad. The more gatherings you attend... the MORE ideas you'll git ! Do ya see where this is goin ???

Yup... you've got the "bug".. and there simply is NO cure fer it ! Oh sure... you'll build a teardrop. And then modify it and rearrange it and add to it and hen git MORE ideas...Oh Lawdy, Lawd !

But we are here fer ya every step of the way.The rest of us addicts are yer support group !

Glad ya spoke up and hope to see more posts, questions, and pics of the build !

I agree not much substitute for actually seeing one or more than one. We actually did exactly that with our first one and got lucky with a 6X10. You might check out the Tearjerkers forum and find the closest gathering http://tearjerkers.net/new_forum/index.php
Ask lots of questions and see what others have built and figure out what you do and do not want to include.

I'm already pretty full of ideas, I've even started mocking them up in sketchup. Here's one inspired by my brother insisting I would fit fine on a 5' long bed. Maybe he can use it for his motorcycle.

More ideas might just be trouble! If I don't narrow them down at some point, I'll never start. ;)

The tearjerker's forum is nearly empty, is that because I'm not registered yet? I'd love to find a gathering nearby, one that's soon would be even better so we can start the build before summer is gone. From what I've been able to find the next gathering near here is in August, and that's not soon enough for me. I wonder if there's anyone in the Colorado Springs area who'd be willing to give a 10 cent tour.

Hey Lanea. I am in Southern Idaho. The first teardrop I saw up close was the one I built. Sure would have been nice to have seen others in real life. Have fun building.
