Now that you've all ruined our lives for the forseeable future we're about to embark on a full ground-up resto, beginning with an effort to narrow down its exact vintage, straighten out the paperwork and ensure that the trailer is registered properly as a Scad-A-Bout, possibly through a referee.
Ours is a 4' x8' (base?) model with a single door on the right, 3-pane louvered windows, half clamshell rear door, gravity feed water tank, 2-burner Modernaire stove on the left counter, sink in the right.
We're trying to narrow down the the year model. This unit sat in an oddity museum in Oregon for 20 years. There was a black California plate from 1963 we found in the storage area but the P.O. believes it came from one of his old cars rather than the trailer, so no help there.
It lacks the diecast "Scad-A-Bout" nameplate that we're told is indicative of very early models and instead has an embossed "California Division of Housing" tag to the rear of the side door and the serial number on this tag matches the frame number stamped in the tongue. There is another foil tag in the rear which indicates that it may have been first sold by "Alpine Trailer Sales, Gardena, California".
Anyway, we're hoping to narrow the year model down by serial number and would like to compare numbers with other Scad-A-Bout owners.
