I am curious 1947

Postby tinksdad » Wed Mar 28, 2012 11:34 am

I won't say whose until the deal is done; but I am about to become the new/next owner of a 1947 Modernistic. I do realize that until I can add my own personal touches, it will always be known as blank & blank's teardrop.

I know that these were sold from 1946 to 1948. I'm hoping some of our resident experts can provide a little more information so that I can be an informed owner when questioned at campgrounds, as I know I will be. Any idea how many of these were sold and how many still exist?? I would also like to put together a scrapbook to show off. If somebody could provide a link to where I can find scans of the original sales material, etc (not for re-sale); it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Glen. It's good to hear from you and Sheila as well.

I'm excited about the trailer and it's not even mine yet. Next weekend I go pick it up. It's probably no secret who blank & blank are. Just aren't that many originals on this side of the Mississippi for sale.

I'm sure I can figure it out; but I should have taken pictures at Cloudland of your A/C setup. I'm NOT cutting holes in this trailer! I can live without A/C just fine (I did in Itty-Bitty); but I have a girlfriend now who requires some pampering.

She's worth it. Helped me get through the emotional part of loosing my job with the armored car company almost two years ago. Loosing that job was probably good for me in the long run; but she says my eyes don't stop moving and I'm still constantly watching everybody around us when we go out. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

287 days to go until I am eligible. Have to decide if I'm going to retire or not.

Can't wait to see YOUR 'new' teardrop...the Modernistics are so cool. You are so lucky to have one!!

I know the feeling about having 'blank & blank's trailer'....there are only what, 8?, known Grasshoppers? Yeah, I'm going to go get my 'blank & blank's trailer' in about half an hour. It's been stored since October when I brought it to the west side of the Sierra so I could work on it before the Dam...well, I'm just going to make it. Driveway cleared, truck purchased...just waiting to hear from my co-pilot and I'm off to finally bring MY Grasshopper home!

I hope you post pictures when you get YOUR trailer! Can't wait...I'm sure it's a beauty!!
