If you are referring to the old "building a boat in the basement" conundrum, you could drive a bus thru the front sliders at Fab Mecca.
Image

Yepper, should be able to get thru there no problem. (I jest :D )

As far as my own garage is concerned, two narrow bays congested with projects, toys, and tools. Would need a major hoeing out. The big hurdle would be the '89 Chrysler Conquest TSi pocket rocket project. Either let it go for next to nothing or put way more time and money than it will ever be worth into it. One of those memories of a fonder funner time that will be hard to shake, but difficult to justify. Complicated by the fact that it is parked in by another project, my '72 Chevy chopped and lowered P/U. The other bay has the bike with boat out front. Lots of other stuff tucked in there.

Too many projects, too little time.

True Dat !!! Waaaay too many projects gnawing away at the time clock ... Only so many hours and then we have to take a Nap ...
Right now , I’m restoring an old hand crank Singer 15-90 from 1953... making the usual assortment of hats , building a new guitar amp which I dare not mention the cabinet for , because someone would want a TD like it  Getting ready to paint the house , and working out new songs for the band .... all the while trying to clean up all the little messes I make here and there ... and take care of the Domina... :R
And that’s only today’s projects ... :frightened:

Okay, I'll bite. Do tell that which you dare not tell.

Wooden beer barrel amp? Teardrop shaped amp on spoked cart wheels? Inquiring minds want to know. Isn't there a rule that the OP gets his way in his own thread; yeah that's it. You have to tell, it's a rule.

Sweet. Need an off topic build thread for that, for sure. Plywood for rigidity and good sound quality, or foam for ease of building the shape?

Reminiscent of classic Santa Fe colors to me.

Why not just get a bigger amp? Then 10 would be louder. :) And for the record, I own a Fender guitar amp with knobs that go to 12. I laugh at your measly 11!

KC, I just finished reading this thread, and I am impressed at the amount of detail work you've done even in places where most people will never look. Can't wait to see the finished trailer.

I certainly appreciate all of the votes of confidence and kind compliments, but truth be told the spread sheet has expenditures at just over $2k at the moment.

The biggest nut to crack was the wheels (that I haven't received, nor been billed for yet) and tires, then the axle (or I should say the brakes), then the springs and suspension brackets. I did not include the temporary wheels/tires because I intend to recoup that expense when I am done by flipping them back on C-List. The Gr. 8 bolt hardware for the suspension is going to be about $50. The break away kit and some wiring will complete the chassis. Karl is donating the epoxy paint and a lot of the steel bits and pieces where scrounged from the scrap bins and drops from other jobs.

A lot of the items that run thru the shop get painted in bulk operation, usually by Karl's hired hand, so I may work out a deal to cover wages for a couple of hours and have the chassis painted with other work, as it will be more convenient to do all together. Depends on what work is coming down the pipe. So maybe $2100, or so, all up for the rolling chassis. As an estimate, you could probably take away about $1000 if you went with standard trailer stuff in place of the off road type stuff, and no brakes. In my region that's in the same neighborhood as the TS (Carry-On) 5x10 wood floor, or just a little more than the 5x8 mesh floor.

But...and it is a big but, I have exactly what I want without having to modify or work around anybody else's design. On the other hand, there will be some (hopefully minor) inconvenience in obtaining a VIN.

Now if we want to try to calculate my labor, well that's another story that I, frankly, am not keeping track of and never expect to recoup. My reward for that will be the companionship of a best friend, the joy of driving the Magruder with TPCE in tow, and pride of ownership.

After all of the troubles I've been reading about plywood delamination and void spaces, I am seriously looking into 5mm (3/16 inch) marine plywood for the floor, wall and ceiling skins... and probably the cabinetry, too. I haven't added up a material estimate for the cabin yet, so at this point I at least still have the illusion that the whole project will come in well under my upper budget cap of $5k (which is what the guy with the WAZAT on Cape Cod was asking), in a dream world closer to $3k. We will see.

Just back from Easter dinner with family and friends at mom's. Mom's a bit of a gourmet cook. String cheese and mixed olive appetizer, de-boned leg of lamb marinated and grilled on the gas grill rotisserie, a rice/lintel/onion/cumin mix under a romaine salad with paprika dressing, grilled sweet potato wedges dressed with a curried yogurt sauce (curry sauce was a big hit!), grilled marinated asparagus, and a macerated salad of peeled and sliced oranges with green olives. Accoutrement's included gourmet Graber Olives (from my hometown region in CA), mint sauce, Greek bread loaf with butter cast from a lamb shaped mold (courtesy of Karl's wife Chris) and Easter themed table setting, including depression glass finger bowls filled with easter colored M&M's. Dessert was a Raspberry Fool (frozen raspberries mashed with a little sugar and Chambord, blended with fresh made whipped cream, served in depression glass sherbet dishes with fresh raspberry and mint garnish. Jessica's boyfriend Rick also brought a box of select chocolate truffles from a fancy chocolatier near his home in MA, which we pretty much decimated. :applause: :applause:

Yeah, I'm fairly stuffed, but very satisfied.

Grandpa Jones from Hee Haw? I don't understand the reference.

I do appreciate the kind compliments. Are you saying that I am being too humble?

Well I'll keep on a pickin' and a grinnin'.
