joe from riverside california" I already have a custom frame built 5x8 and torflex #9 10 down derated to 1500 lbs. thought I would join there is alot of good stuff here! I do have a question about my frame build, the plans I ordered online give the dimensions for a 5x8 body over frame design as 55W x 80L , the 80 length does seem to me not enough to support the 8 ft. floor, and the frame like I said is now built but will add to the back end of it if I need to , any help is appreciated, this is my first build and hope to make this teardrop a looker!

Welcome to to forum ... looks like you have a very good start. Many of these trailers overhang the trailer frame quite a bit. Some barely have a frame at all. There are many good threads that address this specifically. I would suggest doing some reading in the "chassis" section. If you don't find answers to your questions, post for help. There are many who are willing to give free advice here (and a lot of it is good advice too...)

My trailer is considered a 5X10. The frame is only where the arc starts at the front and rear, just in front and behind the side clearance lights at the bottom. Don't remember exactly how long the frame is.

Joe you are forgetting something very important .... The body vertical panels act as a truss.

I think I can best describe this in this manner.....

place a short 4x4 on the ground now stand a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood on edge 4 high 8 wide with the 4x4 at the center now push on the right and left top edge and bend the sheet of plywood.

any luck :?

I have a 40" wide x 84" long chuckwagon on a 40" x 48" HF trailer

and a 62" wide by 120" long barn on a 60" x 96" northern cargo trailer base so yes it can be done quite easily.

P.S. welcome to the sand box !
