Pleasant Valley teardrop question

Postby iplay10us2 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:15 am

I have a friend who has a PV Lil' Traveler teardrop that he rarely uses, and another friend who is interested in buying it.

Has anyone who owns one added a fantastic fan? They were not made with fans, and I think the roof is slightly rounded. The teardrop is in storage, so I haven't been able to verify this.

This is not exactly an answer to your question. If the sale between your friends does not work out I am very much interested in a five wide Pleasant Valley. If I bought a five wide then my four wide 2007 Pleasant Valley would be for sale. I have considered putting a fan in it, but my biggest concern would be if there was structure under the aluminum skin to mount the fan. Ronnie

Well, this also happens to be a 4 wide.

Also not an answer to your question, but we have a 2008 Pleasant Valley Lil Traveler that we bought new and it has a fan, though not a ceiling fan. Though we have considered adding a ceiling fan, really haven't needed it. The existing fan is a small fan that vents the cabin into the galley. As long as we keep the little side vents in the galley unblocked by kitchen stuff, it works fine with the galley hatch closed at night. And, the fan makes a very pleasant little whirring sound that is so easy to sleep to! I bought a little tiny O2Coolbattery operated fan at Walmart ($4 on sale) that we sometimes hang in the window in summer to supplement the other one, but usually don't even need that.

If we were to make a cooling-related modification, it would probably be to add a little closeable vent somewhere in the side wall near the ceiling, just because in cooler weather when you have the window open a crack (which you need to do, for safety), it can get a bit chilly with the air coming in at your elbow.

The top is flat enough that you could install a roof fan, though. We haven't because we don't want to cut a hole in what has thus far been an entirely watertight camper. And, we haven't needed it. I'd say camp in it for a season and then decide. We really like ours.

I should have added that the teardrop would be mostly used in Arkansas and other hot, and humid, areas. A fan, and probably AC, will be a necessity.
It is nice to know that the roof is flat enough to add one, if my friend decides she needs one.

Thanks.

If you go ahead with the fan installation. Keep us updated. I would be very interested to know how it works out, and I am sure there are others. Thanks Ronnie

yes you can add a fan you will need to cut a hole or remove vent run 2 wires blk/red witch means removing ceiling wood or surface mounting it. you should get templet with fan for cutout and retrace it you can do it :D :D :D

Not an electrician, but since there is a center light in the ceiling, there is already wiring in the desired spot.
