Yes slow, seems abit quiet round here lately....the weather has been up and down in northern utah and mostly down on the weekends. Haven't dragged the tear or the harley out of storage yet but need to get some work done on both. I really should get off the puter and fix my riding mower as the grass is wayyyy tall, (although I live in a duplex, I take care of my elderly neighbors lawn so all in all bout an acre of grass) Good weather or not,,,,I'm heading up to Blacksmith Fork river next weekend for some fishing and if fires are banned at the Walk in the Winds gathering I may have to get a fake fire and try it out.
Lookin forward to the gathering in August.......TC
If you see my harley on a trailer,,,,call the police cause it's being stolen...

Was thinking of heading out for a quick overnighter Tuesday but the weather can't make up its mind. Hot cold hot cold now they are talking snow.
We will see what the weather is Tuesday.

Randy and I went out to where Monstro is stored and took a good look at him. Other than dusty, he looks pretty good. Underneath looking good and Randy says the welds and trailer look great. Repacked the bearing last year when we put on the new wheels, and if there is something my husband the machinist/bearing seller knows, it is bearings. Took some of my staple containers home that need to be refilled, made a bag to hold my DO accessories (lifter, tongs hot pads, etc). My husband has taken to calling me the bag lady as I now have nice bags for everything from our rugs to my cast iron waffle maker. I think I have made about 15 by now. We don't have any big projects we need to do to the TD this year, made some side curtains for the back out of tarps last year, so we are set for rain (which of course will not happen :worship: ). Randy is making some wooden door mats (of course I will have to make bag for them) refill the propane tank, wash the tear, add food and clothes, load up the DO supplies and bikes in the TV and we are ready for the Dam! Can hardly wait. I decided on my contribution to the Cast Iron Chef and pot luck today, and finished a couple of TD christmas tree ornaments fora raffle prize earlier this week. I guess it is time to go back to school from spring break tomorrow. Hope Dam gets here soon! :ilovecamp:

Hey slow

Yesterday I did the taxes. Now to get them sent off. In February I made a trip down to the north side of the Grand Canyon. Am still threating to make a trip post someday. But like taxes I will probably put it off. I Imagine in a week or two the farm will slow down and I will be surplussed for a while. Have time to make a short camp. I ought to repack my wheel bearings. Not that they should have needed it but that when I built it in 2007 with an old VW Rabit pickup rear axle the grease seals where not that good. Should replace those some year. I don't worry to much. And I have a big cutting board to make for my Dad's and his Wife's care giver. Then get to cracking on trailer #2.

I spent this rainy weekend building a deck for my little sister. Only got electrocuted once  .

Put up my first up gazebo over the power miter and just kept on going in the misty rain.

Sunday's weather was much better! I am ready for deck boards and some handrails and it is done !

The deck will kiss up to an above ground round pool hence the killer steps. Hand rails will be added to the steps as well

Slow , I was looking at one of those satellite maps of your area... noticed how Yellowstone looked like a BIG volcanic crater ... much as expected ... also noticed the Exact same shape , due west in mid Idaho ... even Bigger ... :frightened:

You know anything about that .. Nez Perce country .. ?

According to one of the "we are doomed soon" shows on satellite tv, the Yellowstone caldera has moved east over the eons and will continue to do so.

So it will probably end up in New Jersey :o ... better call the wife’s relatives there and tell them to sell ...

That’s actually very Interesting Stump!!! You can really see it to be true on the map ... both looking like impact craters from above ... but the exact same shape is just amazing ... Scary to see the Idaho “crater” :o , even Bigger than Yellowstone .... That must have been one BIG blowout huh ... :frightened: Strange , this crust of the molten ball of Iron we drive our little trailers around on ... It just looks so Nice from the surface ... 91032

Slow , "Lava rocks" ...that’s it ... and with volcanoes comes gemstones ... :o Might want to pick up on some shiny rocks around there.... Could be “lucrative”... Heck , I panned for Gold up in the high lonesome of Colorado (St Elmo) ... found some ... just a little bit , but worth 200USD at the time .. Paid for the Beer... BTW , at high altitudes , one beer goes a long way !!! :FNP

Hey Slow

I haven't had time to be bored. I'm on vacation this week and I've been doing alot of stuff around the house to keep busy. I'm also planning on doing some camping and fishing this week too. It's been kinda chilly at nights but a good camp fire should take care of that. :campfire:

Yup, Yellowstone was even in Oregon. But it was too soon to have a park!

The hot sport that causes Yellowstone burned its way through Idaho. Made a big smilie across southern Idaho. I live pretty much in the middle of it. The mountains to the north of me and to the south of me once was continuous chains until the hot spot came through and burned/blasted them to bits. The Craters of The Moon National Monument is just north of me. The southern border is about 15-20 miles away. I Might even go camping there in the next few weeks. Not at the headquarters on the northern end of it where you have to pay. I go to the southern part where you just drive to it and there you are. The last volcanic activity there was about 2000 years ago. Yes someday the hot spot will blow again. Maybe in 100 years, maybe in 100,000 years. It will give us plenty of notice so we will have time to kiss our a&# good bye as there is hardly any place in the north amercan one can get away from it and its 2nd effects. There is another hot spot in Norther New Mexico and the Hawaiian Islands is from a hot sport that is now under the big island.

Here is the Wikipedia article about the Craters of the Moon. In the map I am about 6 miles west of Minidoka. I am kind of thinking about going up to what is called Laird's Park area in the next few weeks for a night or two of camping. Probably will not see another person. That is the largest Kipuka, an area that is completely surrounded by fresh lavas.

I like to go out to the area where there are cracks in the ground. On place there is a cinder cone like thing with a trail up it. I take people there and tell them to go up the trail. They ask how far. I say " Just go until you say, OH My ******" There is a few things along the way and then all of a sudden I hear " OH MY ****"
