Extending construction over frame lenght?

Postby Mikka » Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:43 am

Hi folks, just resurfacing after full knee replacement. I am waiting for a date to have the second one replaced and while waiting, I have been busy building more of my famous wooden deer stands (any hunter outhere - http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v378/ ... e%20Stand/ )

I have a very short trailer, It has a set of 2500# springs and 8" wheels. I have absolutly no use for it and while working on the stands, I had one of my famous brain fart! Why not build a small shack on the trailer to be used as a mobile deer watch at the end of the deer season in december and when the ice is thick enough, use it as a ice fishing shack.

I have no plan, but I see it, in my head, longer than the trailer frame and since I may have only until June before the next knee replacement which will ground me for at least 6 weeks before the wife even lets out in the garage, I am very much tempted to extend the flooring over the back end of the frame at least 24 to 30 inches to save on time. Floor framing would be 2x4`s and would double tem on the over hang. There would be no extra weight weight over that end as I would but battery, propane tank and a small counter and cupboards with a small stove at the front to compensate.

Anyone done it before? If not a good idea, I have 2 migs and 1 arc welders and can weld, just getting lazy and looking at cutting cost and time!

Thnaks, Dan
