What is the original paint? In 27 the catylist was pine tar. I think is was just good old Alkyd. Alcohol + Veg oil + Acid = Alkyd. Slow Med And Short.

I'll have to dig around to come up with a paint name that they used. Maybe if I can find some of the patent info, it will have it in there. I've heard of some of the names of the paints back then for heat resistance, but can't remember them now. All of them I've found have burned paints on them. Doug

Finally finished the KampKook #3 this morning. The flying pollen (pine dust) lightened up yesterday so I sprayed it. It's best viewed on a monitor...there were lots of dents and an incredible amount of rust/cancer on this one.

Shown sitting on a Coleman 413, a typical 2 burner stove for size comparison. I haven't built a fire in it yet...will have to wait a while for the paint to really cure on it. Jeremy found this one for me up in Wash. (he did the decals as well) and one of the Coleman forum members brought it down. Doug

I probably do this Coleman aluminum bodied 442. Dates aren't clear on it...but probably early 60's. Very little paint work to do, mostly needs a tank, and some serious cleaning on the aluminum. It's a Kirk find, I'm thinking it won't be that tough to do, nice and straight, however...some corrosion in spots on the body. Doug
