Hello from a couple of teardrop noobs in Washington!

Postby ceiliwinery » Wed Apr 18, 2012 11:26 am

Greetings all! My wife and I just purchased a "unique fixer upper" of a teardrop last Sunday. We are excited to move up off the ground on our camping expeditions. I will be needing the advice of many on the ins and outs of teardrop renovation. Particularly, how to put aluminum sheeting on since that is a new one on me. I still haven't found the thread on the step by step on that, but I will keep searching. I am looking forward to bringing this little gem out from under its former neglect and get it all shiny and pretty just as it always wanted to be. I hope to chat with many of you soon.

Thanks,

Doug

Welcome Doug!

Your in beautiful country. Teardropping is a great way to see our natural wonders. As far as aluminum, I have that on my teardrop. The process I used is one of several. I would look at how halfdome Danny built his three - or is it four by now - teardrops. You won't find a better made teardrop on this board and he lives in your neck of the woods.

Take care,
Tom

Welcome to the Forum Doug
Yes there is a lot of information here!
Where are you from Washington State or Washington DC??
Your new project is very cute.
We too are looking at getting off of the ground after years of tent camping.

Welcome, Doug. You won't find a more informative bunch of people than those on this forum.

Polish that little gem up and get camping! :Flippin Burger:

Need helpwith door design and construction!!!

Postby ceiliwinery » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:49 am

Hello…sorry for the long absence and lack of response to your welcomes (thank you all by the way). I am starting the fixer upper as of 2 days ago and have reframed it so it is round on top instead of flat and gave it a nice round rear end instead of pointy (I will post pics soon). I have a question about entry doors. The one I have is poorly designed and made and I want to change it but I am not finding anything on here about door design (plans, sealing, hinges etc). Every time I put in searches I end up with hatch doors. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any help is welcome.
Thanks,
Doug and Mary
