OK Coleman Keepers...who is going to the Dam?

Doug, Campmaster-K, me, Tupleosue and NutmegJoe, Lazybones,...Maureen had to back out, bummer. The Sunhopper will be there, Nevadatear,...who else?

I know not all the folks I just listed are into collecting vintage camping equipment, but....

We are having a burn, right?

And it's Cinco De Mayo. And Lazybones will be fresh off his scooter race.

You all want to have a Coleman and friends 'Cinco De Mayo/Congrats Lee/Vintage camping equipment' get together? Just throwing it out there so folks can grab some appropriate snacks/beverages/full-on DO enchiladas or something when you go shopping for the trip.

Lee has told me that tear gatherings are a lot like scooter rallies...friends end up around the campfire shooting the breeze, checking out each others builds, whatever. So I was thinking something a little more organized, but not like a full on exclusive group party or something. More "let's meet at so-and-so's trailer at blank o'clock and have a little meet and greet/congrats Lee thing. Get some of those stories out of him. Show him that we've been watching here, too...and even if you don't ride, you appreciate what he did.

Just tossing it out there. As you know, it's my first gathering and I don't want to step on toes, but thought it might be cool to recognize Lee in some way..just another reason to get together as a group and meet face-to-face (and eat!)

Tru dat. I will commit to doing a batch of killer Guacamole with some greasy chips I have been wanting to try. I also ordered some adult beverages . I will also have some carne asada from a local mexican carneacia . It comes pre marinated and it is super good.

Si si la fiesta de Lee. Un bile' de teardrop.

Does anybody know if one can get ice at the campground?

I'm planning to be there, bringing several gas pressure appliances along and a DO full of enchilada casserole for the potluck.
I'm definitely in favor of getting some stories out of Lee about his wild adventure.

So who's bringing what in terms of stoves and lanterns? Just curious. I'll probably only be bringing 2 or 3 show type stoves over my regular cookers. Maybe only 5 or 6 lanterns. Of course....I'll bring Kevin's iron. I only did a quick put together on it and it needs to be tightened up and we should build a fire in it.

Here's a link to the weather.....FWIW! Doug

I'm bummed that I can't make it, but I am willing to torture myself and follow this topic. I'll just be twice as revved up for IRG, I guess. At least I have a few local gatherings to attend and a big family trip over the 4th. It will be my grandaughters first camping trip, right before she turns one.
I might have a couple of stoves to bring, up for grabs CHEAP.

Go, Lee,go!,,, :applause:

Hope Lee likes Mexican food!! But hey...it's Cinco de Mayo!!! Give him some 'adult beverages' and all will be good!!

Pinata...interesting idea. What's going to be inside, huh??? Better not be any 'shooka shooka' items (aka BBs)... 8)

Sorry you can't make it Maureen! I was really looking forward to it, but I'll see you at the IRG.

Kirk..do you know how to make carnitas then??? I have a pork shoulder and want to try it. Tired of kalua pig.

I'm bringing my turd, and maybe some other lanterns, and my 502.

And guess what? The trailer didn't leak in the last storm...and it rained all day and night. I packed a few things in there today...getting ready for the big bash!!

Too bad Lee will miss the scenery for the first half of the ride tomorrow..it will still be dark. Real bummer. I don't know if he's been through that area before. I have..used to live in AZ. Luckily we have feb31st filming for us..I'll post the link to the day's video tomorrow after he gets it up. Maybe I can post a link to the picture of the guy who was bit by the brown recluse...nah, it's not that interesting. Not gross enough yet! Poor guy..he's from England. Comes to America for a little scooter ride and gets bit by a poisonous spider in his glove....

Lee's doing great. Still mechanical issues, but he'll be fine. And he will get whisked home by his scooter wives in time to pack up the tear and haul a few lanterns over to the Dam!

Doug said there is a store nearby...but maybe there is ice at the campground too? Anyone know? We can always post in the official thread and ask. We need to know.

When should we have La Fiesta de Lee? Or just play it by ear??

Just checked the official site...DO sampler on Friday, Chili cookout on Sat (cinco!) so maybe we can get together on Sat afternoon? IF you guys want to have the Fiesta on cinco. If you want it on tres or quatro, that's good too. All we need is Lee, and we are set!

I'm still kicking around what I want to cook in the DO...and I'm now looking at what to bring as a side to the chili thing...we will probably have enough corn bread to choke an elephant...
