Bring on the knowledge. Well its has set up and sanded it was placed on wood with the exception for a couple inches touching other fiberglass tape that was laid down with the rot doctor epoxy. Ok let me ask you this then ok the tape is down what do you do to add a second layer of just epoxy and how far can you feather out from the tape?

If you're going to fill the weave on the tape using epoxy, then give the 3M layup time to cure good and hard (tomorrow). Give it a scuff with some 100G paper then start laying on the epoxy over top. You may want to sand the join between the two resins till you get a thin line of bare wood between them, then lay epoxy over them both.

Same goes if you are planning to fill with thickened epoxy.

I have used epoxy grout. I worried a lot about it to, but it is real easy to use. Mixing is simple, just add the differnt parts together. Clean up is easy, just make sure you have any residul cleaned off the tile or it will be there forever. Best part is it does not stain or discolor.

I used the high density foam rollers at "HD" and they worked great. Forrester look up Aeromarine epoxy, very reasonable in price and ships out quickly. I bought the 1 1/2 gallon kit and its worked great. I bought 6" tape becauseI wanted cover up some extra screw holes  and I wanted a big overlap on it.

Cliff

Cliff, thanks for the tip about Aeromarine. Ordered my epoxy and fiberglass tape from them today. I had problems with Jamestown Distributors on a previous order so I was looking to find another source. Good price and they took Paypal. I also plan to use Valspar tractor paint on my weekender. Let me know how that worked for you.
Thanks,

Larry tomorrow I will post pics of 3rd coat I'll be putting on it tonight aster I head back to HD to get more tack cloth. So far its great and is glossy as all get out. Only problem I have is the bugs like it even more than I do .Glad you found Aeromarine to be what you were looking for, product has been great and was easy to work with.

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

I remember when i was lurking and doing my research on building one i came across Tom Swensons and he talked about moths landing on his tear as he painted. for me i am doing the painting in the garage. i do get a few drunk spiders land on it. well i am going to now order some areomarine 300/21 get this thing waterproof and wait a week and then paint. the only other thing i dont know is can i put the 300/21 on the wood with no cloth like a CPES.

Here is the conversation i had with aeromarine:

I will admit I am new at this epoxy stuff so please don’t laugh.
Anyhow I am building a teardrop camper and used RotDoctor CPES to put on a first coat and found I do not have enough. I also used their layup epoxy for the fiberglass tape I put on the seams and edges. It’s a 3” 6lb tap from fiberclast.
I need more epoxy and some friends in the teardrop world recommended you. I am taking their advice, but before I do I need some your advice.
Will your product react negatively to what I have already put down.
I am assuming I need the 1.5 gallon. I have to apply to the rear hatch and the doors which I still need to build. I am thinking the 300/21 would be a good choice.
Does the 300/21 work well in applying fiberglass tape?
Thank you.

The 300/21 epoxy is the best one to use for your application. It will adhere to the product you already have down. If you can scratch up the current coat of epoxy a little bit with a scotch brite pad it will provide the epoxy with a better mechanical bond. The 300/21 does work very well when applying fiberglass and fiberglass tape. For further questions or concerns please call toll-free at 1(877)342-8860. Thank you.

Jennifer, the Aeromarine 300 epoxy will not do the same thing that the CPES does as far as sealing deep down if that is what you want it for. If you don't have a lot remaining to seal, I would get a smaller quantity of CPES to finish the sealing and maybe a smaller amount of the epoxy to finish your fiberglass tape. The unit prices are about the same for both products at most dealers.

Ok I got my aeromarine 300/21 and mixed one cup to half a cup. Once again will need to buy wife new measuring cups. Mixed in a plastic cup and it made a lot well now every seam and has a healthy coat of epoxy and half the wood. Areomarine marketed this as a rot prevention epoxy. As a second coat it did not soak as quick as the first rot doctor. Safe to. Say this is a test bed for different epoxies and resins and how they react.

Some observations I could not smell anything with this product like the others. With a large batch I felt no heat beginning to end. It did gel or thicken toward the end but by that time I was done. Used a squegge and found I need better control of it so it doesn't splash around.
