Just found this site and am overwhelmed! We are from Oregon, camp a lot in the snow (not in our teardrop) a ton in the summer and enjoy Friday night get aways with our teardrop. We pull it with a 55 chevy wagon and excited to meet some veteran teardroppers!

Very cool camper and car. Is your Kit titled as a '49?

I had to modify the thread title as I looked on my teardrop title and its actually a 1942 manufactured by Kit Campers and registered as a MFG. Kit trailer.

Thanks for the comments! Yes the turbo thruster works well. I couldn't get Chitty Chitty Bang-Bang, so I settled for a thrusted car instead of a flying one

Nice car and trailer, Kit manufaturing did not start untill 1945 and started selling trailers untill 1946. some of the propane tanks also had a date on them. Just trying to help verify what year trailer you have.

The company's initial model, the Kit Kamper, made its debut in February 1946 at a trade show in Hollywood's Gilmore Stadium. Because of a shortage of materials so soon after the end of World War II, the 12 show models had an unusual exterior combination of war-surplus aluminum and fiberglass fenders. Inside, the trailer included all the comforts of home, including an innerspring mattress and an all-aluminum kitchen with butane stove and icebox. The response exceeded all expectations, with nearly 500 orders booked. About 3,500 Kit Kampers were produced and delivered in 1946.

I will have to dig out the title. I hav a pill or oval shaped propane cylinder on the front that has a large brass tag that says 1945 stamped in the "year" section of the tag. I remember the seller telling me it was a 42 and the title matching what he said, but I may be mistaken on the year. I was using it a few weeks ago and an older gentleman walked by and asked to look at the tank. He said" that tank is worth more than that trailer" and told me that the combo was nice. mine does not have fiberglass fenders anymore. I am sure the ones on it are run-of-the-mill trailer supply ones that were used when it was restored, or refurbished. It would be nice to know the history of it, thanks for sharing some knowledge. I was told by the seller that the tube style frame, the torsion axle with exterior cable adjuster and the 6 lug wheels were all that was left of the original Kit trailer when it was re-done. Here's a pic of the tank, it has had a newer valve installed and still works great!

Newfisher, Don't think we're going to that one.
Maybe we'll meet up at another gathering.
I only take the gas hog 55 to Summer Daze & LeMay.

That makes sense, the propane tank was probably made before the trailer. the trailer manufactures in califorina used a lot of the same parts and suppliers. i would bet the trailer is a 1946
Very nice trailer with the 2 doors, do you have any pictures of the kitchen area. great combo with the 55 chevy . here is a couple pictures of my teardrop and tow rig. would love to meet up
we do a lot of the TOW functions and also ROVT [vintage trailer functions]
