Can you apply too much CPES?

I just finished my third coat on my weekender project and it is going farther than I thought. I have enough for at least one more coat and maybe part of another. Every coat goes on quicker as it soaks in and makes a sheen. Will it hurt anything to go ahead and apply the fourth coat and maybe with what is left after that a fifth coat on all the end grain? I'll be applying a Valspar tractor paint system for my top coats after I fiberglass the edges.

I think that once you start getting the sheen, you've pumped as much CPES into the wood grain as possible. Another coat won't hurt, but it is probably just overkill. I'd use what you have left and focus on saturating the endgrain, as that's the most likely part of a piece of plywood to fail anyway.

I saturated the crap out of my endgrain and when I ran out of cpes I started using spar-urethane. My endgrain had
a pretty good buildup.

Everything I've read indicates that the fiberglass tape adds strength to the joints and may keep the skins from separating later. I stapled and glued my 1/4" roof panels to cleats along the perimeter of the sides and not directly into the end grain of the 3/4" ply sidewalls. Also, the tape and epoxy covers all the staple and screw holes along those joints. I would think that the amount of work to apply fiberglass tape and epoxy would be about the same as filling every hole and crack with a filler and then sanding and coating til smooth. It may be overkill, but that's what I've tended to do about everything else on my build anyway. With the high cost of CPES, I will definitely use every drop of it to seal as much as possible before I start the fiberglass.
