Jeanette....looks good, and I'm assuming that the notebook has all the details worked out so you will not have to change your mind on anything right? PS I get the dartboards purpose, but what does the can of Lincoln Logs represent....the chimney? Keep up the good work  Doug

I know.

Just 1/8" skin over the framing? Nothing thicker for the actual side walls?

Jim, read the post again, and tell me why you think I'm missing something here.

Jeanette, it's looking real good. Remember, don't rush, take your time and keep thinking things out. Your not in a race and you don't have to have it finished next week. Julie, you do the same.

I've seen a lot of good teardrops built by women and it looks like we have a couple more coming up.

Have a good day.

I have one question for you though:

When you said 1/8" skins, do you mean that your plywood sides that you cut there are 1/8", or that you're adding 1/8" skins to that ply?

The reason I bring this up is that 1/8" is awfully thin to use by itself for the side walls. I think the Kuffle plans called for 3/8." Just want to make sure everything goes cool for you.

OK..i read it, it said she clamped her luan panels to the plywood to keep it from breaking..the plywood isn't part of her wall construction..and 2 sheets of luan with insulation between + framing will make a pretty solid wall I think..it's what I was considering doing before I found the water cut option for the plywood I bought..for $33 bucks a sheet at that..dayum, what a bargin..and i was only picking at you Ira, because I know it's sunday and I don't know if Florida has blue laws like Ga.

At least move something around so it looks like you are doing something. Aw, never mind, I did it for you. Now don't be telling me that I haven't helped you out in some way.

Wait a minute, I see what you did. Just don't know how you managed it! Oh well, I've a lot to learn.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks!

Ira and Jim - Yup, it's only 1/8" thick on the outside with 3/4" framing and insulation, and 1/8" on the inside, too. Only it's not luan, I'm using birch. I asked the forum gurus about this before I bought any plywood and got the thumbs up from the likes of Andrew and Mike and Asian. Although I'll have to admit I've already lost a night's sleep over it (while lying awake in the middle of the night pondering over it, my sleep-deprived brain had me imagining that it was paper thin and what the heck was I doing). Upon waking and running down to the garage to check it out again, I felt better. I'll feel better still after I get everything glued and screwed together. I might build up a door first just to convince myself it'll be OK before I do the rest.

Steve F - I'm not sure if you have me confused with someone else, but my "baby" is 5, and he's a boy, not a girl :o

Doug - Yeah, that red notebook has all the design gory details and measurements and weights of all our gear and anything else I could think of with my geek brain.

Rooster - Nope, I wasn't born in Alaska, I'm a way-northern Wisconsin native (it gets pretty cold there, too) that's been transplanted to the mountains of Utah for the last 20 years. So, no, a little snow doesn't bother me 8)

Julie - Yup, I'm trying to keep it light, too. Our tow vehicle is a Subaru Impreza with a limit of 1000 lbs with no brakes, or 2000 lbs with brakes. I'm aiming for around 900 lbs loaded. I think Gage's advice is good to take our time and think things through (you have no idea how much thought has gone into this thing so far!), but cheering each other on is great!

Thanks again, everyone! Stay tuned for continued progress reports!
