If I decide to go with the 7 ft wide tandem, will it be necessary to use some type of anti-sway device?

thanks,

Tandem axle trailers are less prone to sway than single axle. Largest factor will be how you load it.

For smaller shorter trailers you don't really need a sway control if the trailer is loaded right and the tow vehicle isn't undersized.. I pull that 26' cargo above with no sway control with either my 1/2 ton truck or my 3/4 ton truck. I have never felt the need for a sway control for either. I have pulled some 30'+ foot 7'+ tall travel trailers and in high winds you need a sway control.. It also really important to have trailer brakes.. If you do get blown by an 18 wheeler or a sudden gust of wind a simple tap on the brake control in most cases will straighten the trailer right up.. Do not push the brakes on the tow vehicle because that will make it worse..

Mr Mike I pulled a 26 foot travel trailer I used a load distribution hitch wirh built in sway control.
I have owned several smaller campers I did not need the sway control.
if you get your camper so it sits level or very slightly nose low it will pull like a dream.
single axel trailers can be pulled more unlevel than two axel trailers.
if you pull two axel trailers either nose low or nose high you are putting more weight on
one axel than the other possibily over loading the wheels, tires and axel rating
a level trailer pulls best and I always want brakes let the trailer brakes stop the trailer and the tow brakes stop the tow.

again let me know what and where you get yours I'm still looking at RnR trailers in Michigan all aluminum and they will
add anything you want 22X30 windows, ac units, vents rv door with window, I do not want them to do the electric they
come through the front when most campgrounds the electric is on the left I also don't want their step it is not a folding
step a fixed grate looking thing I will have them add a place that I can bolt on a folding step.
I also want a 12 inch longer tongue which is the box [] type not the A arm type need space for propane or battery.

Hello, all very good posts, DW and i have 7X14 tandum, queen bed, front cabnets, RV tolet. No sway bars needed. We have stableizer jacks, but don't use them, as trailer is very stable. The tandum axles are a must easy to level, pull and if there is a flat, many options.

Good Luck

Hi Pete,

I think I am going to go with Trailershowroom, they seem to have all the options anyone could ask for. Leaning toward the 7 X 14 ft v-nose tandem. I'll let you know more once I have made the order this week.

I am also getting ready to buy. I am looking at 7x16 CT with tandem torsion axles, and flat nose with extended tongue (for gen box). I want the narrowed axles which trailershowroom will do on the 7'. I am still undecided about going longer (to 18') or higher to the 7' ceiling. Since I have a 3/4 ton diesel size doesn't really matter until I try to back it up or squeeze through somewhere tight so that is why I want to limit length and width. Let us know how it goes with trailershowroom. Are you going with torsion axles?

Mike,

If you are still looking for a trailer and want to compare trailers check out the Bravo trailers at milltrailers.com I bought my 6x12 there, it was a stock on the lot unit but they will custom build anything you can dream of. Windows, stabilizer jacks, doors, heavier axles, atp etc, etc, etc. I've been really happy with my Bravo as I have been doing my conversion. Mine was the base model called a Scout, but they have a Star and Icon.

Good luck.
