Oldies Trucks Question

Postby Classic Finn » Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:25 am

I noticed on the 37 chevrolet 1/2 ton trucks - as well as mine I dont have
a Drip Edge above the door... Is this common from them days?

Does anyone here that has an oldie truck know how one could be applied?

Id hate to have water get in after all is new and restored... Ok good seals
must be installed but thought maybe someone else would have an idea
how to apply such?

Look at a 73-85 Chevy pickup, I think they have a drip rail that screws on. Not real familiar with a 37 cab, but you might be able to modify something like that for use on your truck.

Hi Finn
I have a 1940 Ford pickup and it has rain gutters above the doors. I found this photo of a 1937 Chev pickup cab and it shows a gutter above the door. Do you think someone moulded them off. I know on old Fords this happened over the years when they rusted out but I have seen them replaced and they look fine. I know you can by replacement rain gutters for Model A Fords so I think you should be able to get them for your Chev. Good Luck

Good evening Mike and thank you for your reply..

It does look as if its been off a long time..I dont have much history on the
37 since the original vin had disappeared, there is a new vin number on the truck...

I also have a friend there in the USA that has a 37 as well.. Im puzzled
since his dont have one either..unless as you say.. they could have been
ground off after rusting ...

I just dont know...I do however think that we could come up with one for it...

Mine came from the Mountains up in Northern California...Tons of Bondo
and Steelwool was found in the holes... Yikes what surprises it had in the beginning.

All I have heard is, it had belonged to an ol Indian at one time... We couldnt find any numbers for Id on it... But its starting to look quite
good...But ok thats to be expected on these ol timers.. It will be fully resurrected
soon... I took the 216 engine out and used it for a boat anchor... ;)

I don't know if this is what your looking for or if the photo is clear enough to see or read. This is what is sold for a Model A Ford.

Mike

hmm.... maybe that will work..I,ll check it out. But the 37 chev dont have wood to nail to. It would have to be welded...

Thanks again

Most of the pics I've seen show gutters...maybe the European models were without?
Can't imagine why though...

Here is a batch of pictures.
