Modified 2+2 trolley top - Dinette Table - pg 15

I have been working a little on my walls, still framing them out. It seems like everything keeps taking my time and I have little left for the trailer.

The rear bed is 54" x 76". The front bunks are 32" x 76". There will be 24" of space above each bunk. I do not think I will use the rear bed as a seating area much if at all, but it will be there if needed. Plus it will help if I decide to ever sale it.

With the better weather I have been able to finish the wall framing. Next time I build a trailer I will probably just use 3/4" plywood. Framing these walls has been a little bit of a pain for me. Not hard to do, but for some reason it just slowed me down a bunch and I still have to put plywood on both sides and insulation in the middle. I just don't think that the insulation will add much to the heating/cooling of the trailer.

Anyway, enough whining. Here are the pictures.

This is the right side wall framing. My daughter Vanessa is looking forward to being able to camp in the trailer.

Now I need to finish buying lights, so I can do the wiring and close up the walls.

The sides really give you the idea of how large the Hoplite will be. The frames are looking good.

Well I am a real teardrop owner now. This teardrop was listed on craigslist for only $475 and also was local, so I decided to get it. It does need something done with the roof. It is just painted and has peeled in some locations. Will probably cover the roof and hatch with aluminium or something. Don't really want to put much money into it, but want to protect it a little. I will still build my other trailer because this will not sleep my family.

Got a little more building done. A few days ago I made a bending form and made some fender wells. I tried using 1/4 inch plywood, but could not keep it from breaking, so used 1/8 inch plywood instead. The fender wells are 1/2 thick and will be fiberglassed after they are installed on the trailer. Today I built a plywood lumber storage rack. I have always wanted to build one, so finally did.

Here is the fender after the glue has dried. Still have to cut it to final shape and add a plywood back.


Here is the plywood lumber storage rack. I actually built it in one day! I kind of followed some plans I found on the internet. This is the side that the plywood goes on.


This is the side that you can store cut off pieces. You can also store longer lumber on the shelves in the middle.

Very nice design and progress on your camper build. I'll be following this build, as its something I have been tossing around in my head for some time now but I have to figure out a way to fit 3 small kids in with 2 adults.

I like that lumber rack alot it looks like it would hold alot of lumber.

Well it has been a little while and I have some updates.

I have the walls almost finished. I have ordered epoxy and fiberglass from RAKA, so I will soon be fiberglassing the walls. Also went on my first real teardrop camp out last night with my son, Josh. We had planned to stay longer, but this morning while making breakfast he sprained his ankle really bad, so ended our camping adventure a little early.

First real teardrop camp out in Water Cayon outside of Winnemucca Nevada. This camping area is only 10 minutes from our house.


First time trying out our $40 propane fireplace yard sale find. It was brand new and have never been used.

This is also the same spot in the creek that Josh sprained his ankle. Our weekend camping trip truned out to be more like a 14 hour camping trip, but we created some memories and that is what is really important.
