Ray, you said the axle most likely needs replaced because the tires wear funny. Does it affect the wheel bearings as well? Also, any ideas as to why the axle would be bad?

I'm not sure what is wrong with the axle. It has a 2000lb torsion axle and I hit a bad pot hole way to fast about 6 years ago. One side of the trailer bounced clear of the ground and I think that is what bent it. But since then we have pulled the trailer to LCG 3 times and out to cloudcroft NM once and several other shorter trips. I usually put new tires on it about every year and a half. It only has 13" tires and I've never found very heavy ply tires in that size. I usually carry a spare and have had to change them on trips due to blow outs but I don't know if that is due to the axle or just cheap tires. I want to be as honest about it's problems as I can. It is a very well used trailer but I feel that it still has a lot of life in it.

Quick question on the axle..

Is it bolted or welded in? I think I remember you saying it was a tor-flex or similar axle. If its replaceable without welding ill just bring a fresh axle along..

The Chevy should be more than adequate to tow it..Ill see if its as easy of a project as the present owner makes it out to be on Monday. The nice thing about the truck is that its a 1968 so I can Antique tag it and drive it just when I need to or when I go camping..

Unfortunately the Chevy had a really rusty frame that just wasn't worth tackling. I knew things were fishy when I started poking about underneath and the price dropped to half the asking...LMAO

Guess i should look at an 88 instead of a 68..

Sorry the 68 didn't work out Andy. When you said it was that old I figured it would be in the awful zone. Awful expensive or awful rough. My son was trying to restore a cheap 74 nova and decided to get a more expense one that didn't have as much work to do. Now He just has to sell the cheap one.
The trailer is still waiting in the garage.

Its tough to find classic iron that still is streetable here in NJ for a reasonable price.Even the expensive "projects" seem to be almost as bad. I was drawn to that 68 since I had one about a decade ago and it was the easiest to work on vehicle I ever had. Wasn't the fastest or prettiest but the few buttons it had worked and just impressed the heck out of me for what it was.

Im just flabbergasted that the Warrior hasn't sold yet.
