Patient Zero in South Florida...

Postby SteveW » Mon May 28, 2012 6:07 pm

This just came on the news earlier today. Why do all the nuts seem to live in Florida these days?

Unless you've already built your Zombie Safehouse, it's time to pack your teardrops, grab your shotgun and shells, and head for the hills!

See, a lot of folks seem to worry about wild animals or criminals.

Me, I worry about crazy folks. This looks like a great reason for CCW to me.

The potential for a lot of people who need professional supervision, to be unsupervised when there is a natural disaster like Katrina, an earthquake, etc, is great enough to make just dealing with survival and wondering who might be watching you deal with it, is a scary thing to ponder...

One of the goals of "de-institutionalization" was that clients would receive mental health services at the community level. For way too many they end up in prison, and needed help is spotty difficult to obtain... Yes some have done better. I am ever mindful of the "but by the grace of God there go I". One of my internships was in a facility for those that are persistently mentally ill, bi-polar, schizophrenic. The facility was purpose built and had laundry and shower facilities for street people...

That's pretty awful. I'm told that certain drugs can make a person feel so hot that they want to strip off all their clothes to try to cool down. According to the news, these people were both buck naked; therefore, I suspect a bad trip from bad drugs. We may never hear any more about this and, thus, may never know either what caused it or what the final outcome of it all will be. This incident was horrific and sad.

Actually, the 'Bath Salts' crisis has been ramping up significantly in ERs 'everywhere'. That's one intentionally-mislabeled name this stuff is sold under. This stuff is sold legally at Convenience Stores and Truck Stops. A person seriously overheats, and becomes extremely delusional. Symptoms return once Detox is tried using the 'usual' calming Drugs like Valium. That aspect, alone, has Doctors mystified.

As a Sub Teacher in Health, my Wife and I try to stay up on these developments in a casual manner. See 2 Links that explain what's going on - IMO - and edited Video of the actual attack that is not gruesome. Everything occurring - including the 'casual' response of folks passing by - is caught on Tape. FWIW, this Video is from the Site of a major Newspaper. I consider it factual, rather than sensational, since most all the event is behind a Bridge Support. Otherwise, I would not post this Link.

Yahoo - Powerful New Drug

Addictions.com - Bath Salts
