Aluminum thickness question.

Postby Koko65 » Thu May 31, 2012 1:05 am

Hello all

I am sorry for asking this as I'm sure it has been covered before. It has to do with the thickness of the aluminum skin. I am at the point that I am ready to order the sheets of aluminium and was wondering what thickness is good. I can order either .065 or .050 at the local metal dealer. The thinner one may not be available in a 4x12 sheet but would be about $99 a sheet. The thicker would be $135 a sheet. It. Normally it does not have the PVC protective film but for $9 /sheet they will add it on. I think it is worthwhile to avoid scratches as much as possible.

Also, is there a good thread on which types of trim to use where? I was planning to use roof edge moulding for the roof ( of course ) , but I am not sure what type to use around other areas like the hatch and vent.

I have tried the search function but it ignores certain words like aluminum which makes finding things a bit more of a challenge.

Thank you for any assistance.

That's the thread you need to look at. Scroll down to the aluminum section and all your answers are there.

Cheers
