K irk, do not let that redheaded floozy, Angela, anywhere near Doug's house. She is sure to get corrupted by his guest - charge. You have probably seen his antics on the other thread. Haven't heard anything about that cad of a lantern lately, but the results of his misdeeds can be found in my album under the photo with "paternity" in the title.

all in good fun.....

And then 4 and a nickel fount. 242 but what version.? I am confused by the dating scheme change is it march of 44 or April of 43. Oh and the220bx lit right up! Needs a tune up though. Randy is intrigued and gonna get them going I think. I see by the lack of eBay postings the Bx seems to be not so common.

Hum there is a leak on the Bx at the tip cleaner.

Debbie, you are correct. The BX had a short production run during WWII, less than 2 years IIRC. Your 242 would be dated April 1934. In that era they stamped the dates with the second digit of the year first, then the month. Not a common lantern to find these days, and that is a fine looking example. Same for the rest of them for that matter. If you need help with parts or what not, I know some local sources (local being Reno of course).

Shaun that is still confusing. If it was April of 34 wouldn't it be 4-3? If it is reverse in that decade would it be march of 1934? Thanks for the help!

Debbie, pardon my mistake. It would be April of 1933, not 34.Too many 3s and 4s for me lol. Your 242 is one of the earliest for that model and a favorite with collectors. The narrow brim on the vent makes it distinctive from later models.
This single digit year dating system thankfully ended in the 40s, so it keeps the field relatively narrow. I guess even the Coleman folks didn't foresee their products lasting so long when they started.

Master Po, if a big brown turd presents itself in the wild --- should I try to possess it?

Oh wise and wandering Campmaster, should you come across a 275A smoking pile w/ half frosted/striped globe, I certainly could use a matching bookend.

Also on the look out for a replacement globe, 275A tapered, half frosted/striped to replace the broken one that came with my new acquisition.

Option would be a single mantle in any variety; I do like the looks of the little red ones.

Don't tell anyone else, but I'd even do the P word... propane (shh, our little secret).

I'm like you, I like them all!

Here's a link to my new find coming out post - 275A Turd

Kirk
Do I see a wrench inside the fire chamber?

I went to an estate sale this morning and got a 500 stove B 1950, One year to new to be my birthday stove. There was also a real nice Thermos lantern but they was asking way to much. Also one of those early Coleman tables but no chairs, And again way to much. Saturday they do have 1/2 price. Don't know if they will last. But now I see how the legs are suppose to stow in there.
